  1. BRIEF DESCRIPTION:



The Quality Intern is responsible for quality inspection and auditing of manufacturing operations, component and finished goods as well as quality records, execute product activities and reconciles related records; assists in completing discrepancy corrective/preventative action; and assist with auditing of suppliers. Perform receiving, in-process and final inspections ensuring compliance to quality metrics and standards. Understand production processes to build Process Maps, PFMEA's, and Control Charts based off SOP's or Work Instructions.




  1. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:




  • Reads and follows work instructions (SOP's), conduct required auditing and inspection to QC standards.
  • Performs various levels of inspection: receiving, first article, in-process and finished product.
  • Inputs data pertinent to quality measurement database systems for capturing, analyzing, and providing timely and accurate reporting.
  • Determines from complex blueprint and specifications the dimensions, finishes, processes and methods of inspection. Precision measuring instruments (i.e.: CMM, calipers, micrometers), gauges, tools and set-up required for checking surfaces and variations.
  • Participate in weekly quality inspection and auditing sessions.
  • Leads cross-functional problem-solving teams and implement quality improvement tools and techniques using management and planning tools, quality tools, and preventive and corrective actions to overcome barriers to continuous quality improvements.
  • Complies and writes training materials and conducts training on quality control activities
  • Follows safety and PPE procedures and reports violations to supervisor, leads, and/or to safety.
  • Follows work practices that are in the guidelines of OSHA standards.
  • Follows all Environmental Health and Safety rules and ISO requirements.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with 5s requirements, rules, and regulations.
  • Must be able to work required overtime as needed.
  • Work with leadership and quality members to solve issues.
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed.



3.0 POSITION REQUIREMENTS:




  • Education:
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Currently enrolled in a bachelors or graduate program at a 2 or 4 year university in an engineering, business, or related field.
  • Additional quality certifications (i.e. ASQ certifications) preferred
  • Ability to use MS-Office (Word, Excel, E-Mail and other Windows-based applications)
  • Experience:
  • A minimum of (1) year related work experience that includes a working knowledge of precision measuring instruments such as CMM, micrometers, height gauges & calipers, etc. is a plus.
  • Basic math skills with ability to perform basic math calculations, such as, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Plus, knowledge of fractions, decimals, and squares, and square roots.
  • Ability to read a tape measure accurately.
  • Ability to compare actual measurements to specifications and determine if finished product is acceptable quality.
  • Able to read and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule format.
  • Ability to work in a team environment; good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt quickly and effectively to change.
