The USC Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine in the Department of Medicine is seeking a Research Associate to join our team
The newly established laboratory of Dr. Toby Maher is recruiting a Research Associate to undertake an NIH R01 funded project. The Research Associate will be responsible for; conducting aged murine bleomycin studies, collection of fresh human tissue and generation of primary fibroblast cell lines and precision cut lung slices and for conducting in vitro experiments with fibroblasts and precision cut lung slices.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Plan, design, and conducts highly technical and complex research projects independently.
  • Preparing presentations and publishing scientific manuscripts under the direction of the Principal Investigator.
  • Serve as a project liaison between the lab, their collaborators and the NIH
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

This is a Grant Funded Position

The university offers a competitive salary and benefits package.

Shift: 40 hours per week- 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Salary Range:

The annual base salary range for this position is $70, 745 - $73,000.00 When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations."


Minimum Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate
Minimum Experience: 1 year
Minimum Field of Expertise: Directly related education and experience in research specialization with advanced knowledge of equipment, procedures and analysis methods.
