The Alaka`ina Foundation Family of Companies (FOCs) is looking for a Biostatistician to support our government customer located in San Antonio, Texas. This position will work remotely and is Part Time.

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure monthly and quarterly Commander's reports are accurate and comprehensive.
  • Use multivariate statistical techniques, e.g. logistic regression, and artificial neural networks.
  • Collaborate with investigators in the conduct of statistical studies involving data from the Department of Defense Trauma Registry (DoDTR) that are either intramural or extramural to the Institute (as defined by Institute CRADA and MOU).
  • Assist other laboratories that have specific statistical focus that directly collaborate with the Joint Trauma System.
  • Establish requirements for data sharing and collaboration with those laboratories as defined by Institute policy and protocol.
  • Assist other laboratories that have specific statistical focus that directly collaborate with the Joint Trauma System and DoDTR.
  • Establish requirements for data sharing and collaboration with those laboratories as defined by Defense Health Agency (DHA) policy and protocol.
  • Provide Statistical Design for Joint Trauma System researchers to include sharing expertise in study designs, final data analysis and manuscript preparation in various areas related to statistical methods.
  • Apply expert knowledge of statistical theory, sampling, data analysis, survey methodology, informatics and general mathematics in research and analysis.
  • Assist in producing publications in open literature.
  • Provide evaluation of processes and provide recommendations or improvements in data efficiency for abstraction and optimizing data integrity review via technology across JTS.
    Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

A master's degree or PhD in biostatistics, statistics, public health or mathematics. Five plus (5+) years of experience preferably in clinical research.

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Software Expertise: Proficiency to be able to work with at least two of the following statistical packages: SAS, SPSS, Sigma Stat, Table Curve 3D, StatXact, LogXact or any new and relevant approved statistical packages to support research goals and provide analysis of data.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong ability to interpret complex data and apply statistical methodologies.
  • Communication: Ability to explain complex statistical concepts to non-statistical colleagues.

REQUIRED CITIZENSHIP AND CLEARANCE:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must pass a government background check.
