Accounting Manager - JLL

Location:Hybrid - Westmont, IL

What this job involves:

As an Accounting Manager within JLL's Client Accounting Services group in Westmont, IL, you'll play a pivotal role in delivering exceptional financial management services to our diverse client portfolio. This position combines strategic oversight with hands-on leadership, where you'll guide a talented team of accounting professionals while ensuring the highest standards of financial accuracy and compliance. You'll serve as a trusted advisor to clients, translating complex financial data into actionable insights that drive their business decisions. What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accountants and bookkeepers through coaching, training sessions, and regular performance evaluations to build technical expertise and professional growth
  • Oversee the complete accounting cycle for multiple client portfolios, reviewing financial statements, balance sheets, general ledgers, and reconciliations to ensure accuracy and timely delivery
  • Serve as the primary accounting liaison for assigned clients, conducting regular meetings to understand evolving financial needs, address concerns, and deliver customized accounting solutions
  • Develop, implement, and refine accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls that enhance operational efficiency, reduce errors, and strengthen compliance frameworks
  • Analyze financial data and trends across client accounts, preparing management reports and providing strategic recommendations that support informed business decision-making
  • Ensure strict adherence to GAAP standards, tax regulations, and industry-specific compliance requirements while coordinating audit activities and preparing documentation for external auditors
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects and deliverables in a dynamic environment, prioritizing workload effectively to meet critical deadlines without compromising quality

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field from an accredited institution
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience with demonstrated expertise across the full accounting cycle, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity
  • CPA certification or active pursuit of CPA licensure
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), tax regulations, and financial compliance standards
  • Proven experience managing client relationships in a professional services environment, with demonstrated ability to serve as a trusted advisor and primary point of contact
  • Strong leadership capabilities with a track record of successfully managing, developing, and motivating accounting teams to achieve performance objectives
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills with keen attention to detail and accuracy

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with enterprise-level accounting software platforms (e.g., Yardi, MRI, JD Edwards) and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and financial modeling
  • Background in real estate accounting, property management accounting, or corporate real estate services
  • Familiarity with audit coordination processes and experience working with external audit firms
  • Demonstrated ability to identify process improvement opportunities and implement solutions that enhance efficiency
  • Strong presentation skills with experience delivering financial insights to diverse audiences including C-suite executives
  • Project management experience with ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and change management efforts
  • Knowledge of emerging accounting technologies and automation tools that enhance financial operations

Estimated compensation for this position:

93,100.00 - 107,000.00 USD per year

This range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
