Essential Job Duties
This position will involve assisting with the design and manufacture of robotic systems used in agriculture research. The applicant should have good attention to detail and ability to work independently. This position will primarily focus on mechanical design and manufacturing, but some knowledge of electronics is necessary. You will be working directly under our team's hardware engineering lead.

General Duties:
*Assist in day-to-day lab organization and operations.
*Assist with mentorship of undergrad interns.
*Independently take on small to medium scale hardware projects.
*Determine project requirements from non-technical stakeholders.
*Assist with assembly of equipment protypes.
*Occasionally assist with hardware installation and troubleshooting in the field.
*Use hand and machine tools to build and modify components.
*Use SolidWorks or other CAD to design complex parts and assemblies.
*Use 3D printing and CNC machining facilities to manufacture components.
*Preform integration of electrical and mechanical systems.

  • At least 1 year of experience working with robotics or other complex motorized mechanical systems.
  • Significant experience with SolidWorks / CAD.
  • Significant experience with 3D printing.
  • Ability to work unsupervised with common machine shop tools (Mill, Lathe, Bandsaw, etc.)

Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education
  • 3+ years experience in related field
