How You'll Contribute:


The Manager - Regional Design Engineering is responsible for leadership and development of regional project engineering associates under the Media and Workplace Business Units. The position reports to the Director of Regional Design Engineering. He or she is responsible for the development, resourcing, implementation, and continuous improvement of the regional project engineering team. A thorough, demonstrable understanding of the construction process, systems integration, IT engineering as well as architectural and construction drawings and specifications is required. In addition, the Manager - Regional Design Engineering is responsible for ensuring the project engineering team is aligned with the needs of our clients by partnering with regional sales, operations and PMO teams. He or she will be accountable for ensuring resources are shared across the business units and the company. This role will work closely with the PMO leaders, Project Ops Leaders, and Sales Enablement leaders in region as a delivery team. The role is accountable for motivating, mentoring, ability to demonstrate being a student of the business, communicating and navigating.



NOTE - while this is a virtual position day to day, it does involve periodic (up to 25%) onsite presence at customer sites concentrated in the Northeastern United States. As such, residing in (or a willingness to relocate to) a location in proximity to this region is a requirement for this job.



What You'll Do:



  • Collaborate with other regional leaders

    • As part of the Workplace engineering leadership team, align with the Sales, Operational, and PMO teams on Enterprise program support.
    • Collaboration with sales and Workplace BU leadership, accountable to ensuring engineering has the skills required to fulfill projects and delight customers.
    • Directly responsible for the engineering quality and profitability of the portfolio of projects associated with their region; this includes engineering solutions and design documentation.
    • Point of escalation for project engineering


  • Directly manages regional project engineering team

    • Lead, inspire, and mentor associates.
    • Leading a team through projects that are not meeting expectations.
    • Motivating and directing the team to achieve the clients' goals in an expedited manner.
    • Responsible for recruiting, hiring, and training resources to meet the needs of our client projects.
    • Track performance of teams to drive utilization, efficiency, quality, savings and added profit.


  • Contributing to the design of engineering and program standards and processes.

    • Assist in developing standards and procedures to ensure that quality standards are met and consistent.
    • Implementing these standards and processes in collaboration with the engineering teams and PMO, guaranteeing client satisfaction and profitable projects.
    • Govern standards through project and program audits to ensure adherence by the team and consistency in work product.


  • Drive efficiency in project engineering, including innovation and technology.
  • Drive risk assessment analysis, holding leaders and managers accountable to following defined processes.
  • Coordinate weekly in person and virtual meetings, workshops and team building events including manufacturers and vendors.
  • Visit clients and client sites, developing relationships with key clients as well as gleaning information about enhancing project fulfillment.



COMPLEXITY:



  • Directly manages individual contributors.

    • Roles included are Associate Design Engineers, Design Engineers, Senior Design
    • Engineers.
    • Responsible for regional organization of approximately 20 individuals supporting
    • multiple business units.


  • Responsible for the engineering quality and profitability of a portfolio of Workplace projects associated with their region, estimated at $75 to $100M.
  • Participation in reviewing Project Financials



What You'll Bring:



Education & Certifications:



  • High school diploma
  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent



Required Skills/Qualifications:



  • 7+ years of experience in systems integration and design
  • Associate/Bachelor degree and/or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of management or team lead experience
  • Knowledge of AVoIP, enterprise-level networking design and configuration
  • Knowledge of UC, collaboration and cloud platforms
  • Competent in Agile and Scrum methodologies



Desired Skills/Qualifications:



  • AVIXA Certifications
  • Manufacturer Control Systems and DSP Certifications
  • Construction Experience (skills, media, and system integration) desired
