Position: Regional Safety Coordinator

Department: Risk Management

Reports to: VP of Human Resources/Risk Management

Status: Exempt

Summary

To assist with facilitating the development and compliance of the Safety Program of Goodwill Keystone Area for the protection and safeguard of the organization's assets, employees and the public. This will include steps to ensure compliance with OSHA, CARF and EPA regulations; maintaining active status of our PA Certified Safety Committee; and monitoring work-related injuries as they relate to preventative action to enforce safe work practices.

Duties and Responsibilities



  • Assists the VP of Human Resources/Risk Management in leading safety awareness throughout the organization to create a strong safety culture that will ensure that everyone goes home safe every day; works collaboratively with divisional management in the pursuit of best practices.
  • Responsible for maintaining OSHA written program compliance and the Safety Policies and Procedures Manual for all areas of operations of Goodwill Keystone Area.
  • Ensures adherence to all OSHA, EPA, and CARF compliance regulations and other related safety and health regulations and standards.
  • Provides leadership for Goodwill Keystone Area Safety Committee and ensures continued certification by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
  • Assists the VP of Human Resources/Risk Management with items related to the Goodwill Keystone Area Emergency Plan, assists with plan communication and training of employees as needed.
  • Maintains the accuracy and timeliness of relevant records and databases as required by internal procedures and best practices, brokers, OSHA, and CARF.
  • Interfaces with Insurance Brokers as necessary for claims management purposes.
  • Provides safety trainings and initial orientations for new and existing management staff. Documents all orientations.
  • Investigates root cause of employee injuries, assists location leadership with the development of actions plans, monitors follow-up on action items documented on the Preventative Action Form, and provides recommendations for improving safety in the workplace.
  • Provides follow up and communications with managers and injured employees as needed; ensures treatment plan is followed and light-duty is available that address work injury restrictions.
  • Utilizes AI/LLMs for efficiency of tasks and to analyze data and information, and to provide information as requested, to the VP of Human Resources/Risk Management.
  • Performs audits of all Goodwill Keystone Area locations as assigned and records audits via RGB portal and Goodwill Keystone Area tracking database.
  • Promotes an environment of workplace safety by training and informing others regarding safety standards/precautions. Monitors safety and takes corrective action. Ensures that regulatory safety requirements are adhered to.
  • Communicates progress, problems, and concerns to the VP of Human Resources/Risk Management.

Qualifications

Education and Experience



  • Bachelor's Degree in Safety or relevant field; or Associates Degree in Safety with two (2) years' experience in the relevant field; or HSD/GED and four (4) years' relevant experience which enables the individual to meet the standards and expectations of the position.
  • Three (3) years' experience in safety and health required.


Skills/Abilities/Qualifications



  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and general safety procedures required.
  • Ability to work maturely with highly confidential information.
  • Proficient with Microsoft software application to develop and maintain databases, spreadsheets and word documents.
  • Must be able to work cooperatively and effectively as a leader and team member.
  • Must have excellent time management skills.
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and good judgment.
  • Must be able to research, develop and write reports.
  • Must be able to work a varied and flexible work schedule.
  • Must have a valid and current driver's license and have the ability to travel extensively.
  • Ability to work beyond normal schedule as needed.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and satisfactorily complete a motor vehicle check on an annual basis.
  • Ability to travel Goodwill Keystone Area territory.
