Hourly Pay Range:

$24.86 - $37.29 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

Position Highlights: OB Technician - Night and Day Shift

  • Position: OB Technician
  • Location: Arlington Heights, IL
  • Per Diem
  • Hours: 0700-1930 and 1900-0730, weekends as needed, holidays per unit scheduling guidelines
  • Required Travel: no

What you will do:

  • Provides patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for women of childbearing age and their newborn.
  • Performs surgical scrub role which includes performing any combination of tasks before, during and after surgery to assist the surgical team.
  • Performs the duties of scrub technician providing the surgeon with correct instruments and equipment maintaining the integrity of the sterile field. Counts sponges and instruments during cases with circulating nurse and applies sterile dressing at completion of procedure. Collects specimens and delivers as necessary.
  • Cleans operating room, instruments, equipment according to established procedures and restocks room for the next procedure on a timely basis. Disposes of hazardous medical wastes according to OSHA standards.
  • Maintains skill level to scrub for C-Sections and other department approved surgical procedures. Selects and prepares supplies, equipment, and instruments for surgical procedures.
  • Assists patients with personal care needs such as bathing, use of bedpan, positioning, and answering call light.
  • Performs procedures such as thermal applications, perineal care, emptying of foley bags, and bed making. Obtains, point of care testing, scaled weights, and reports obvious abnormalities to the appropriate RN.
  • Transports medications that are not controlled substances.

What you will need:

  • Certification: Certified Nursing Assistant - Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and BLS - Basic Life Support (CPR and AED) - American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Experience: Previous patient care experience or completion of one nursing clinical rotation preferred
  • Unique or Preferred Skills: OB Technician experience preferred - 2 years surgical tech experience preferred
