Purpose:

  • Valkyrie Enterprises has a need for a Senior Full Stack Software Developer who will provide technical leadership and advanced engineering support to the NAMTS contract. This role is responsible for architecting, developing, securing, and sustaining enterprise-grade software systems that manage Job Qualification Requirements (JQRs), training workflows, and readiness analytics for United States Navy Sailors.
  • This position focuses on designing scalable, secure, and high-performance systems within and beyond the Moodle Learning Management System, including advanced plugin development, API integrations, and enterprise service architectures. The Senior Developer will lead modernization efforts across the software stack, incorporating modern frameworks, cloud-native practices, DevSecOps pipelines, and data-driven solutions. The role spans the full software lifecycle-from concept and architecture through development, deployment, security accreditation, and sustainment-while mentoring developers and ensuring alignment with mission and compliance requirements.

Job Description:

  • Lead the design, development, and maintenance of complex, enterprise-level web-based applications supporting NAMTS training, qualification tracking, and readiness reporting.
  • Architect scalable full stack solutions using modern frameworks and technologies, ensuring performance, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Develop and maintain advanced Moodle plugins and integrations using PHP, SQL, and Moodle APIs.
  • Design and implement modern front-end applications using JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, or Vue), HTML, and CSS.
  • Develop backend services and APIs using languages such as PHP, Python, Java, or Node.js.
  • Lead system integration efforts across platforms, including LMS, databases, dashboards, and external Navy systems.
  • Design and optimize relational and non-relational database architectures for performance, scalability, and auditability.
  • Implement secure authentication and authorization mechanisms (e.g., Keycloak, OAuth2, SSO).
  • Lead DevSecOps practices including CI/CD pipeline development, automated testing, and containerized deployments (Docker/Kubernetes).
  • Ensure systems meet DoD cybersecurity standards, including RMF compliance and audit readiness.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting and root-cause analysis across full system stack.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and code review for development teams.
  • Translate government and stakeholder requirements into scalable technical solutions.
  • Manage multiple high-priority development efforts and drive projects to completion.

Qualifications:

  • Must have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
  • Must have 8+ years of professional software development experience with full stack technologies.
  • Must have strong proficiency in backend development (PHP, Python, Java, or Node.js).
  • Must have strong experience with modern front-end frameworks (React, Angular, or Vue).
  • Must have advanced SQL and database design experience.
  • Must have experience with RESTful API design and system integrations.
  • Must have experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Must have experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or similar).
  • Must have strong experience with Git-based version control systems.
  • Must have experience working in Linux-based environments.
  • Must have experience implementing secure systems and authentication frameworks.
  • Must demonstrate strong debugging and system analysis capabilities.
  • Must demonstrate ability to lead projects and mentor technical teams.
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to work independently and manage competing priorities.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a related technical field preferred.
  • Experience with Moodle LMS or similar training platforms.
  • Experience with DoD systems and cybersecurity frameworks (RMF).
  • Experience supporting military training or readiness systems.

Security Requirements:
