THE SALVATION ARMY NORTH & CENTRAL ILLINOIS DIVISION MAYFAIR CORPS POSITION DESCRIPTION POSITION TITLE: Music & Arts Camp Director LOCATION/DEPT: Mayfair Corps REPORTS TO: Corps Officers FLSA CATEGORY: Non-Exempt STATUS TYPE: TFT PAY GRADE: 204 PAY RANGE: $20.52 - $24.62 OUTCOMES Work with children and adults in the Corps and community to plan and implement music and creative arts programs based on the needs of the Corps, including music theory, instrumental and vocal performance, and creative arts such as dance, drama, theatre, and visual arts. Coordinate and supervise the Sound of Mayfair, providing a safe, educational, and engaging environment while supporting the Corps' Sunday worship and arts ministries. The position supports the mission of The Salvation Army and includes participation in Christian education and evangelistic outreach programs. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead or assist with music and creative arts programs in the Corps, implementing lesson plans and curriculum provided by the Corps Officers.
- Encourage participants to develop musical and creative arts skills, build confidence, and engage in positive activities that support personal growth and program involvement.
- Support music performances and activities that promote the mission and community presence of the Corps and encourage participation in summer camps that foster further skill development and spiritual growth.
- Coordinate and supervise the program, including staff orientation, daily meetings, weekly program planning, and communication with parents.
- Ensure the safety, supervision, and well-being of all campers and staff, including oversight during activities and specialty programs, while following all Salvation Army policies and Safe-From-Harm guidelines.
- Maintain program records and paperwork, oversee check-in and check-out procedures, and assist with discipline and staff supervision in coordination with the Corps Officers.
- Support and uphold the Christian emphasis and mission of The Salvation Army throughout all camp and program activities.
- All other duties as assigned.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS Under the general supervision of the Corps Officers with considerable freedom to plan, schedule, and carry out responsibilities within established policies and guidelines. This individual relates to and interacts with a wide range of contacts both within and outside the Salvation Army. In these contacts they act as a representative of the Army and its mission. PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS This individual will be evaluated on how effectively the outcomes of this position are achieved, as well as the timeliness, accuracy and completeness of accomplishing assigned goals. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- A minimum of 2 years' music experience working with children/adults.
- Bachelor's degree is preferred, or minimally working towards a degree in music, or extensive experience teaching music.
- Proficiency in music theory and in a primary instrument.
- Performance experience is preferred.

- A personal knowledge of music, including performance, education and theory.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- A valid driver's license and the ability to pass the MVR check.
- Must be a team player, self-starter, and follow through with assignments until completion.
- A positive attitude and the ability to be flexible in light of changing job situations/priorities.

POSITION LIMITATIONS
- This individual will only commit Army resources that have been allocated or approved. All Salvation Army owned equipment that is being used by the individual will be returned at the end of employment before the final check is issued.
- This individual will keep the Corps Officers informed on all critical issues relating to their area of responsibility.
- This individual will adhere to all policies and procedures in carrying out the responsibilities of this position.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
- This position is required to do light physical work and must be able to lift 25 pounds.
- In order to successfully perform the essential functions of this position, the employee is regularly required to use instruments and equipment needed in a music program. Frequent use of standard office equipment and a PC are also required.
- The work environment for this position includes a program environment with a moderate to high noise level.
- Maintain positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters and maintains positive relationships with co-workers and supervisors. This would include but not be limited to such actions: resolution of conflicts in a positive manner; courteous treatment of staff, clients, and visitors; respect for others' property and person, professional and appropriate communication to and about co-workers, supervisors, and subordinates.
