Description and Requirements

Responsibilities

Automation & Production Equipment Support

  • Perform lineside maintenance for production automation systems (not facilities maintenance).
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and optimize motors, belts, drives, conveyors, sensors, and other core production components.
  • Conduct recovery procedures after equipment faults and restore systems safely and efficiently.

PLC & Controls

  • Understand PLC ladder logic and perform basic program adjustments or modifications.
  • Confidently enter PLC panels to review, diagnose, and analyze system logic.
  • Work with crossfunctional teams to ensure PLC programs support desired production performance.

Robotics

  • Support teaching, troubleshooting, and calibration of collaborative robots.
  • Use handheld teach pendants or remote programming methods to safely adjust robot motion paths and locations.
  • Apply safe operation practices including deadman switches, manual jogging, and controlled programming environments.

General Maintenance

  • Perform standard mechanical and electrical maintenance including component replacements (motors, tubes, drives, belts).
  • Finetune conveyor settings and verify operational parameters.
  • Maintain documentation, perform preventative maintenance, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

CrossFunctional Collaboration

  • Work closely with automation engineers, robotics teams, manufacturing supervisors, and operations leadership.
  • Contribute to hiring, interviews, and skillassessment conversations as needed.
  • Support scaleup of additional automation roles as new phases of hiring are approved.
Qualifications Basic Qualifications (Required)
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related field (or equivalent handson experience)
  • 3+ years of experience supporting production automation systems in a manufacturing environment (not facilities maintenance)
  • Strong troubleshooting experience with motors, conveyors, belts, drives, sensors, and electromechanical systems
  • Working knowledge of PLC systems, including ability to read ladder logic and perform basic diagnostics or modifications
  • Experience safely working within industrial control panels and electrical systems
  • Handson experience supporting or interacting with industrial or collaborative robotics systems
  • Ability to perform equipment fault recovery, root cause analysis, and system restoration in a production setting
  • Solid understanding of industrial safety practices (LOTO, machine guarding, safe robot operation)
  • Ability to work onsite in a fastpaced manufacturing environment, including shift or oncall support as needed
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with PLC platforms such as Siemens, AllenBradley (Rockwell), or similar
  • Handson experience with robot programming, teaching, and calibration using teach pendants
  • Familiarity with automation integration, system optimization, and process improvements
  • Experience finetuning conveyor systems and highvolume production lines
  • Strong diagnostic skills using HMIs, SCADA systems, or industrial software tools
  • Experience working in highly automated or advanced manufacturing environments (e.g., automotive, electronics, robotics, fulfillment)
  • Exposure to continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen)
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and system layouts
