Position Location
This position is lcated onsite at the MacDill AFB in Tampa, Florida.
Job Overview
The IT Technician is responsible for providing first-level technical support to end-users for computer systems, hardware, and software issues. This role involves troubleshooting and resolving basic IT problems, assisting with the setup and configuration of computer systems, and ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
Essential Job Duties: Technical Support:
- Respond to user inquiries and requests for technical assistance via phone, email, or in-person.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues for desktops, laptops, and peripherals.
- Assist personnel with basic account administration, such as password resets and account unlocking.
- Escalate more complex problems to System Administrators as needed.
Computer Setup and Configuration:
- Install, configure, and maintain computer hardware, software, and peripherals.
- Set up new user accounts, email accounts, and configure system settings according to company policies.
- Assist with the deployment and management of software updates and patches.
Documentation and Tracking:
- Log, track, update, and resolve all user support requests efficiently utilizing the IT Service Management (ITSM) system.
- Assist in tracking, issuing, and maintaining inventory records for IT hardware, laptops, mobile devices, and peripherals.
- Create and update user guides and support documentation.
Customer Service:
- Provide excellent customer service and maintain a high level of professionalism in all interactions with end-users.
- Follow up with users to ensure issues are resolved to their satisfaction.
- Educate users on basic IT practices and self-service options to reduce support requests.
Security and Compliance:
- Adhere to IT security policies and procedures to protect sensitive information and ensure data integrity.
- Assist with the implementation of security measures, including antivirus software and security updates.
- Ensure end-user devices comply with basic DoD security standards (e.g., verifying patches are applied, ensuring antivirus is active) and escalate suspected security incidents to the appropriate cybersecurity team.
Additional Duties:
- Assist with IT projects and initiatives as assigned by the IT Support Manager.
- Stay current with industry trends and advancements in technology."

Job Requirements
Mandatory:
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree in Information Technology or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of One (1) year of experience in a help desk or technical support role.
- Basic knowledge of computer hardware, software, and operating systems.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, including experience providing technical support to senior leadership or VIP personnel.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- Must meet DoD 8140 / 8570.01-M Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II requirements.
- Familiarity with common office applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite.
- Understanding of basic networking concepts and troubleshooting.
Preferred:
- Certifications such as CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, or other relevant (ISC) certifications are a plus.
- Experience with IT Service Management (ITSM) ticketing systems, such as SysAid, ServiceNow, BMC Remedy.
- Experience with PowerShell scripting.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time position, typically Monday through Friday 7:30am EST to 4:30pm EST.
- Office environment with occasional remote support capabilities.
- Occasional after-hours or weekend work may be required for special projects or emergencies.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and move IT equipment up to 50 pounds.
- Sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods.
- Dexterity to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other IT equipment.
