A reasonable estimate for this position is $79,887 -$136,000 Application Window Open date: April 28, 2026 Next review date: Friday, May 15, 2026 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Final date: Wednesday, Sep 30, 2026 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Position description The Graduate School of Management (GSM) at the University of California, Davis (UC Davis) is seeking a dynamic and passionate lecturer to teach courses in Composition/Writing Studies or closely related field. An MA, MS, or graduate specialization in Rhetoric and Composition/Writing Studies or closely related field will also be considered. University-level experience in teaching developmental writing is desired. We are interested in candidates, as well, who have experience teaching hybrid courses and contributing to curriculum and faculty development projects. Ability to work successfully with a student population that is linguistically and culturally diverse is also very important. Lecturers are selected to fill occasional specialized teaching needs that are part-time and temporary in nature. In any given year, open positions and requirements for individuals to fill them will vary. This appointment is renewable contingent on continuing department teaching needs and demonstration of excellence in teaching. Compensation and the duration of the appointment will depend on the number of courses assigned and the number of units per course. Successful candidates will be familiar with contemporary composition theory and practice. Key responsibilities include: * Course development: Develop and teach courses that focus on Composition/Writing Studies or a closely related field. * Course delivery: Foster an inclusive, engaging, and dynamic learning environment with practical exercises, and hands-on projects. Responsibilities include presentation of course lectures, grading assignments, grading exams, and holding office hours outside of class. Course Descriptions of some potential courses are as follows: MGV 489V, English for International/ESL Graduate Students MGT 242, Marketing Communications: Issues in designing a marketing communications strategy. Topics include mass and direct communications, institutional aspects of advertising, consumer behavior, evaluating ad effectiveness, determining ad budget, creative strategy, and use and abuse of promotions. MGV 268V, Articulation and Critical Thinking: Develop competency in business writing and oral presentations. Build critical thinking skills. Topics include behavioral economics, false claims, deductive and inductive reasoning, correlation/causality, business ethics.
