Job Summary


The Test Technician is responsible for coordinating and performing laboratory testing activities to support product development and ensure compliance with design verification requirements, test specifications, and industry standards. Working under general guidance, this role executes product and prototype testing, supports certification processes, and maintains the safety and readiness of laboratory environments. The Test Technician applies engineering principles and technical expertise to analyze results, troubleshoot issues, and contribute to continuous improvement efforts while ensuring accurate documentation and high-quality outcomes.

Job Responsibilities



  • Support design engineers with development activities, including component evaluation, prototype assembly, and product verification testing.
  • Execute product and prototype testing in accordance with approved specifications, standards, and procedures.
  • Analyze test results to verify compliance with performance and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare, review, and maintain accurate test reports, data records, and technical documentation.
  • Perform safety and electromagnetic compatibility testing in accordance with UL, CSA, and IEC standards.
  • Generate formal reports for submission to third-party certification agencies.
  • Travel to external accredited laboratories, as required, to support certification activities.
  • Design, build, and maintain test setups and fixtures, including mechanical assembly and electrical wiring.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electronic and electrical circuits using schematic diagrams under guidance.
  • Perform precision soldering of surface-mount components across various package sizes.
  • Set up and operate laboratory instrumentation, including digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, power meters, and related systems.
  • Collect, record, and interpret test data using laboratory tools and software systems.
  • Support laboratory audits and assessments aligned with ISO/IEC 17025 standards.
  • Comply with all safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.


Job Requirements



  • Associate degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or related discipline with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Hands-on experience performing UL, CSA, and IEC compliance testing, particularly for variable frequency drive (VFD) products.
  • Working knowledge of VFD design and operation.
  • Proficiency in operating laboratory test equipment and interpreting measurement data accurately.
  • Experience with safety and electromagnetic compatibility testing processes.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for electronic and electrical circuits.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate documentation.
  • Ability to work effectively in a hands-on laboratory environment.
