Job Description
- Oversee daily engineering operations across guestrooms, public areas, outlets, spa, and back-of-house facilities
- Develop and manage preventive maintenance programs to ensure equipment reliability and protect asset value
- Perform and coordinate timely repairs of all hotel systems, equipment, and fixtures
- Conduct routine inspections to ensure compliance with all safety, fire, life, environmental, and regulatory standards
- Respond to emergency maintenance needs and critical/VIP guest requests promptly
- Supervise, schedule, and support the engineering team; assign work orders and prioritize tasks to ensure productivity and timely response
- Monitor labor logs, attendance, and staffing levels to maintain cost efficiency
- Lead, mentor, and develop a multi-skilled team while fostering a positive, accountable, and service-driven culture
- Monitor energy usage and collaborate on sustainability initiatives to control utility costs
- Assist with budgeting, purchasing, inventory management, and cost control
- Support capital projects, renovations, and contractor oversight
- Communicate operational issues to the Director of Engineering and collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless hotel operations
- Lead by example with a hands-on, guest-focused approach, promoting safety, service excellence, and Fairmont brand values
Qualifications
- Technical degree or equivalent experience in Engineering or Facilities Management, 1st class operating engineer license is preferred
- Minimum 5-8 years of progressive luxury hotel engineering experience
- Previous supervisory or management experience
- Strong technical expertise in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and life safety systems
- Working knowledge of Building Management Systems
