Under the supervision of the Alfred University's Executive Director for Facilities Services and detailed working-knowledge of the practices and principles of EH&S/Codes missions for all Alfred University Schools and Colleges, the EH&S/CEO Asst. Director assures that Alfred University maintains compliance with all Local, State and Federal Environmental Health & Safety regulations and the Uniform Building Code. Also, the EH&S/CEO Asst, Director, serves as a representative/liaison to a variety of external entities including Federal, State, and Local Agencies contractors, suppliers, and various nonprot, educational, government, and community entities in relations to re/environmental health and safety. The EH&S/CEO Asst. Director leads various internal organizational teams that implement Alfred University's EH&S/CEO polices and goals.

Essential Functions
- This position has supervisor authority over Environmental Health and Safety Managers / Coordinators.
- Implements the strategy for Fire / Environmental Health and Safety initiatives. Proactively address EH&S related issues by creating or updating polices to address same.
- Facilitate Fire and Safety planning and coordination with routine and scheduled inspections and evaluations of University facilities and grounds including residence halls, work areas, labs, classrooms, equipment, practices etc., to identify potential re violations, hazardous practices or biological, chemical and radiological materials and the collection of samples of same for analysis or testing. Following inspections, the EH&S/CEO Asst. Director makes recommendations to the appropriate University authorities to reinforce re/safety behaviors or correct noted deciencies.
- Ensures that all re and life safety systems and related equipment are fully functional and code complaint. He/she will ensure that re drills are conducted, as required, participating in drill execution as needed, and to identify and address potential or actual weaknesses in response time.
- Develops, maintains and implements all Fire Safety Plans and Emergency Action Plans, including building specic re drill and evacuation procedures and Building Information Cards, in accordance with the NYS Fire Prevention Code. He/ she will also maintain all re records and logs as required by relevant codes.
- Independently design and deliver-both in person and asynchronously-safety training programs to prevent injury or disease caused by non-compliant practices concerning re, chemical, physical and biological agents. Actively promotes the proper use of personal protectiveequipment in said training to minimize workplace injuries. As required, update current safety training programs to reect changes in code or governing regulations. Maintain EH&S training calendar with emphasis on Fire Protection, health services, residence halls, facility services, science labs, engineering labs, art and photography studios. Maintain ling systems regarding worker training and safety.
- Supervise and direct the activities of EH&S sta including the coordination of building evacuation, etc. Prepare annual Performance Program(s) for assigned sta and provide feedback on performance against agreed upon goals.
- Assist in preparing reports (e.g.: department annual reports, etc.). Maintain all required DEC, EPA DOL and PESH records NYS Part 1204 Uniform Code Compliance Report.
- Serve as campus Chemical Hygiene Ocer and coordinate hazardous, chemical and universal waste disposal, ensuring all such activities are performed in a manner fully compliant with governing codes, laws and regulations. Process and maintain RCRA certication and sign hazardous material manifests on behalf of the University.
- Develop and maintain productive relationships with local; police, re, Hazmat, OSHA, EPA, etc. professionals to facilitate required response to a request for assistance. Responds to all building re alarms and emergencies while on duty and is the primary interface with the NYS Fire Marshal.
- Provide daily guidance and direction in Fire & Environmental Safety programs at the employee/supervisor level to ensure a common and eective approach across campus.
- Work with Alfred University's Facility Directors to ensure that contractor personnel working on the property are in compliance with all policies NYS Fire code and safety requirements.
- Ensure inspections by regulatory agencies and University Worker's Compensation and General Liability Carriers are coordinated and deciencies minimized and corrected. Maintain all logs and documentation associated with permits and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with maintaining the Site Preparedness and Emergency Plans & Procedures. Participate with Emergency Response Team and comply with Alfred University policies and procedures.
- Accountable for researching and writing permit applications and be compliant in completing permit reporting requirements.
- Review accidents and incidents which occur in the area of responsibility and conduct eld audits, reporting and managing the corrective actions. Timely address employee input regarding EH&S related issues.
- Assist with and, as necessary, coordinates the sending of NY Alert notications and administer account users.
- Understand the chemicals and any/all potential safety and environmental hazards used/present at Alfred University, take steps to reduce the use of problematic chemicals and to mitigate any potential safety and environmental health hazards.
- Maintain program management systems to ensure that Alfred University's various Environmental Health certications, accreditations, and compliance eorts are developed and continuously improved.
- Provide technical expertise and support on regulatory compliance issues in Fire Protection/Safety and Environmental Health.
- Provide service to University by actively participating in committees that may be assigned.
- Maintains a safe working environment within and around their facilities and associated equipment and supplies including, but limited to, obtaining Safety Data Sheet (SOS) information pertaining to any hazards associated with their work environment.
- Safety: Participate in safety training and comply with safety rules, regulations, and protocols.
- Perform additional duties and assist with special projects as assigned.

Qualifications-Educations & Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Bachelor's degree in; Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology, Safety & Health, EH&S Management, or equivalent experience required.
- Minimum of ve years of experience within the Environmental, Health and Safety functions & NYS Uniform Building Codes, including Codes Enforcement Ocer certication.
- RCRA Hazardous Waste Management and Hazmat & Waste Ground Shipper (DOT)
- Demonstrated abilities to work collaboratively and to inuence those with whom no formal hierarchical relationship exists.
- Demonstrated prociency with oce automation/communication software and tools.
- Detailed working knowledge of NYS Uniform Building Codes, N.F.P.A., U.S.E.P.A., U.S.O.S.H.A., N.Y.S.D.E.C., AND N.Y.S.D.O.L rules and regulations.
- Highly eective written and verbal communication skills that can be used with people of various backgrounds, experience, and education levels.
- Demonstrated highly eective platform presentation skills and training delivery skills.
- Demonstrated the ability to create EH&S training programs.

Personal Protective Equipment must be worn when required. A respiratory function test and the ability to use respirators may be required.
