Overview We are seeking a Senior Staff Attorney with regulatory experience to join our Rate Case and Investigations team. Our team is responsible for providing legal services on state rate cases, various state regulatory proceedings, and regulatory audits/investigations. In addition to representing the Company in matters before state regulators, the Senior Staff Attorney will provide advice and legal counsel to the Companys operating groups. The ideal candidate will have a background in state or federal energy regulatory law and/or administrative litigation at the state or federal level. Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities
- Represent the Company in state and federal regulatory proceedings, including rate cases, audits, investigations, rulemakings, enforcement matters, and ancillary judicial appeals.
- Serve as regulatory counsel on assigned matters, managing case strategy, procedural compliance, and coordination with internal subject matter experts.
- Provide legal and strategic advice to operating departments on regulatory obligations, compliance requirements, and risk mitigation related to utility operations.
- Collaborate closely with regulatory affairs, finance, engineering, and operations teams to ensure legal positions are aligned with business objectives and regulatory strategy.
- Monitor and assess regulatory and policy developments affecting the Company and proactively advise management on potential impacts and recommended actions.
- Contribute to broader law departmental initiatives, including process improvement, internal training, and knowledge sharing related to regulatory law and practice.

Qualifications
Required Education/Experience
- Juris Doctorate JD from an accredited Law School required.
Relevant Work Experience
- Licensed to practice law. If not a member of the New York State Bar, must be an active member of the bar in good standing in any state, territory of the United States, the District of Columbia, or the commonwealth of Puerto Rico and have the ability to register as a New York in-house counsel, required. Required
- Minimum of five years of legal experience or energy policy experience, required. Required
- Ability to organize and coordinate projects effectively and efficiently, required. Required
- Flexibility and ability to handle busy work environment, required. Required
- Must excel at written and oral communication skills, negotiation skills, presentation skills and interpersonal skills, and must be able to adopt a customer service mentality, required. Required
- Experience practicing before public service commissions or other regulatory agencies, including preparation of filings, testimony, briefs, comments, or compliance submissions, preferred. Preferred
- Experience advising on utility regulation, including interpretation of statutes, regulations, tariff provisions, and commission orders, preferred. Preferred
- Experience providing legal and strategic advice to business or operational clients in a complex, regulated environment, preferred. Preferred
- Experience supporting or managing regulatory audits, investigations, or enforcement matters, including responses to data requests and engagement with regulators, preferred. Preferred
- Experience collaborating with cross functional teams, preferred. Preferred
- Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating settlements, tariff provisions, regulatory agreements, or stipulations, preferred. Preferred
- Experience working in or with a public utility, regulatory agency, law firm, or on energy policy, preferred. Preferred

Additional Physical Demands
- The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be able and willing to travel within the Companys service territory and to Washington, D.C., Albany, N.Y., Trenton, N.J., and Newark, N.J., as needed.
