What you'll do:

SCOPE OF THE POSITION:
The Welder is responsible for assembly securing and welding metal parts, as well as reading and interpreting blueprints of a complex nature, fabricating and welding metal components according to specifications with little supervision.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Reads and comprehends blueprints.
Selects equipment and plans layout, assembly, and welding from blueprints.
Lays out, positions, aligns, and fits components together.
Bolts, clamps, and tack-welds part to secure in position for welding.
Sets up equipment and welds parts, GMAW MIG.


What you need to be successful:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
One year certificate from college or technical school in welding/fabrication or relevant experience.
Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. without assistance.
Ability to work from various squatting, kneeling, or bending positions.
Ability to work arms above head and ability to work from crawling or lying positions.
Ability to read, understand and carry out instructions as detailed in blueprints.
Ability to understand and operate all safety equipment in the area.
Proficient in adding, subtracting, multiplication, and division in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
The ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
Proficient in computation of rate, ratio, and percent and its application in practical situations.

POSITION CHARACTERISTICS:
Education:
GED/High School Diploma or Experience, Technical degree/certificate (preferred)
Experience:
Prior fabrication experience (Preferred).
ERP (Preferred),1 year or more of MIG welding experience.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
Ability to read, write, comprehend, and verbally communicate simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English.
Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and layout and other written or verbal instructions presented in English.
Working with sharp materials.
Heavy workloads with high noise levels (Up to and over 85 decibels).
Fumes and exposure to chemicals.
