ROLE OVERVIEW:

The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for mechanically maintaining and fabricating all components of the plant and equipment. Identifying and repairing mechanical failures and implementing preventative maintenance applications.

DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES (summary of components that make up the job)




  1. Responsible for a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures for themselves and co-workers by using the appropriate tools and PPE for the task.



  2. To keep equipment running and maintained properly to maximize production and quality.



  3. Troubleshoot and complete maintenance & repairs on equipment.



  4. Use cutting torch and perform welding tasks on parts and equipment. Operate lifting devices.



  5. Perform inspections, preventative maintenance on plant and equipment.



  6. Communicate and work closely with supervisor to ensure all parts are ordered for timely repairs.



  7. Communicate and follow up with all employees around the plant to ensure all equipment is running properly.



  8. Safely and properly operate plant. May be required to operate additional company vehicle during plant tear down, moves and set up.



  9. Accurately complete and print plant reports and other documentation as needed.



  10. Dispatch trucks using Apex load out system.


  11. Ensure MSHA, OSHA, EPA, DNR, safety and environmental regulation compliance, Lockout/Tagout procedures.
  12. Performs other duties as assigned.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (minimum educational, experience, or other relevant job requirements)



  1. Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical.
  2. Must be able to work overtime and be flexible with hours (daytime/nighttime).
  3. Must have a "safety first" attitude. Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures is required.
  4. Previous equipment maintenance and operation preferred.
  5. Able to come in on emergency breakdowns with short notice and work extended hours.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITITES (types and extent of knowledge, skills or abilities an incumbent must possess to complete the job responsibilities satisfactorily)



  1. Basic knowledge of plant operation, conveyor systems, and maintenance.
  2. Basic knowledge of Apex load out system.
  3. Must have good mechanical, troubleshooting, and some welding ability.
  4. Fabrication and Plumbing skills/knowledge.
  5. Need positive attitude and the ability to work well with others and follow directions.
  6. Equipment operation skills helpful.
  7. Ability to work outside in all seasons.


PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:



  1. Extensive walking on uneven surfaces.
  2. May lift and carry up to 100 pounds.
  3. Exposure to dust, fumes, odors.
  4. Hand eye coordination.
  5. Exposure to mists, adhesives, acids.
  6. Frequent and/or extended periods requiring kneeling, bending, and/or twisting.
  7. Operating equipment at night under artificial lighting.
  8. Working in all weather conditions for extended period.
