What you will be doing
Reviews proposal specifications, drawings, and attends pre-bid meetings to determine scope of work and estimate requirements.
- Reviews and incorporates historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, and productivity analysis reports into unit costs and person-hour projections.
- Provides technical and industry expertise related to risk, contract management, owner relationships, and subcontractor/vendor partnerships.
- Organizes and supports estimating teams in preparing bids, selecting vendors and subcontractors, and evaluating cost effectiveness of pursuits.
- Delegates and oversees review of project scope and applicable regulations to ensure compliance with disadvantaged business requirements and minority participation agreements.
- Prepares discipline estimates through complete scope takeoffs, including material quantity calculations from engineering drawings.
- Partners with the estimating team to prepare and support project handoff meetings between pursuit and project management teams.
What we are looking for
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field required.
- 15+ years construction industry experience required, with the majority spent in an estimating capacity.
- Previous field/operations experience strongly preferred. Experience supporting pursuit and estimating activities for large or complex projects.
- Construction, design, finance and management experience required.
- Expert knowledge of HCSS HeavyBid Estimating Software.
- Proven success delivering heavy civil estimates ($50-500M+) across Bid-Build and Alternative Delivery models, including collaborative delivery environments.
- Ability to support pursuit and estimating efforts on large or complex projects, with previous experience working in JV bid teams strongly preferred.
- Expert knowledge of construction engineering and project delivery methods across heavy civil infrastructure, including highways, bridges, dams, reservoirs, water conveyance/utilities, and tunnels.
- Expert knowledge of best practices to control and reduce pursuit costs, quantities and risk.
- Strong communication and technical writing skills.
