Job Summary: The Surveyor Instrument Man operates and maintains survey equipment, assists the Party Chief, and ensures accurate data collection in various surveying projects. Job Function(s)

- Various types of construction stake out projects.
- Topographic surveys.
- Performs mathematical calculations for field checking data.
- Take accurate and clear notes in the field.
- Read and understand engineering drawings.
- Know basic sources of measurement errors.
- Know principles of monumentation, staking and marking.
- Responsible for the maintenance of all Company equipment.
- Self-motivated and organized with good decision-making skills.
- Responsible for submitting data and notes daily.
- Flexible and adaptable to change.
- Identify safety hazards you or other employees may be subject to and take all necessary corrective action to eliminate or minimize hazards.
- Perform all other job-related duties as requested by supervision.
Qualifications:
- Must have 4 years working as a Surveyor on a new construction site.
- Must have a good understanding of Matrix Service policies and procedures.
- Must be able to completed the Matrix Service Safety training, Process Safety Management training and Client / Site specific training.
- Must obtain and maintain active status within the required drug testing program.
- Must Pass a Background Check.
Physical Requirements:
- Employee will be required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, sitting and lifting.
- Will talk and hear to communicate.
- Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull objects, materials, controls and tools.
- May be required to pick up, lift, carry and move up to 50lbs.
- Will occasionally work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and may occasionally work off platforms/scaffolding using the appropriate fall protection requirements.
- Must be capable of working outside in the elements including but not limited to the heat, cold, rain, snow and wind; and must be able to work for long period of times up to 12 hours a day.
- Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves and steel-toe boots.
