The Cropping Systems team within Seed Product Development is seeking a Systems Research Agronomist.

In this role, you will be responsible for developing new cropping systems in partnership with a team of scientists from client's R&D, with a focus on water-limited and managed irrigation environments in the western US. Responsibilities will include design and analysis of multi-crop, systems-level agronomic trials, development of agronomic recommendations, and responsibility for research collaborations, farmer and agronomist interactions and business relationships.

Qualifications

  • PhD or MS in agronomy, plant physiology, plant breeding or ecology, with an emphasis in water-limited cropping systems.
  • Knowledge of and applied, in-field experience with multi-crop systems. Research experience with brassica crops and renewable fuels are advantageous but not required.
  • Experience with field research processes and data analyses and utilization.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills required for effectively developing strong internal and external working relationships, as well as working with farmers.
  • Strong organizational skills to plan and coordinate experiments across locations.
  • Independent, highly motivated, and self-directed scientist.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to work in varying environments to conduct field activities (such as data collection).
  • Some travel required.
