Summary

The Wastewater Technician (Water Resource Recovery Facility Technician) is responsible for monitoring and maintaining wastewater treatment processes to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and efficient plant operations. This role involves conducting laboratory analyses, interpreting process data, performing routine inspections, and making operational adjustments as needed to optimize system performance.

Responsibilities
    • Monitor wastewater treatment systems including biological, chemical, and mechanical processes.
    • Perform laboratory testing and accurately record and interpret results.
    • Monitor and analyze reverse osmosis (RO) water systems, including permeate quality, reject streams, and system performance.
    • Adjust treatment processes such as aeration, chemical dosing, and sludge handling based on data trends and operational needs.
    • Conduct routine inspections of equipment, tanks, pumps, pipelines, and RO systems to ensure proper function and identify maintenance needs.
    • Maintain compliance with all local, state, and federal environmental regulations and discharge permits.
    • Document operational data, maintenance activities, and compliance reports.
    • Coordinate with maintenance and production teams to manage wastewater loads typical of dairy/yogurt processing.
    • Respond to alarms, troubleshoot system issues, and implement corrective actions.
    • Support preventative maintenance and cleaning of treatment and RO equipment.
    • Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
    • Regular exposure to noise, vibrations, and moving mechanical equipment.
    • Potential exposure to unpleasant odors and hazardous conditions such as wet/slippery surfaces and confined spaces.
    • May encounter hazardous gases (e.g., hydrogen sulfide, methane) and must follow all safety protocols.
    • Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, and lift moderate weights as required.
Requirements
  • Wastewater Treatment Class 2A license preferred or ability to obtain within 18 months
  • 2-4 years of experience in Wastewater or Process/Utilities operations preferred
  • 1-2 years' laboratory analysis experience preferred
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability
  • Computer skills (i.e., Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • HMI Experience
  • Demonstrate good communications skills, decision-making abilities, and interpersonal skills

The salary range for this full-time position is$27.75-$37.25, + bonus + equity + benefits. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
