Job Summary:
Support back office and administrative functions of the Project Engineering and Execution department.

As a large, and growing department, the support needs are ever expanding. This position is responsible for the technical on-boarding of Messer's internal and external Project Team members. This includes IT infrastructure, tools, network support.

Additionally, the position provides traditional administrative support the to Vice President, Project Engineering and Execution.

The position manages the $17,000,000 department budget and ensures that all costs are directed to the appropriate project or cost center. This includes assisting in budget preparation as well as analysis and improvement.

Principal Responsibilities:



  • Ensure that all Department members have the tools to perform their jobs. This role is the primary interface with IT for selection and implementation of tools (Autocad, Bluebeam, etc.,) across the multiple platforms that drive the department forward.
  • Coordination of regular department meetings - Proposals, Project Reviews, etc. Emphasis on inclusion of appropriate representatives from outside the Department.
  • Ensures smooth communication of meeting output to the appropriate managers and executives.
  • Prepare analysis at the direction of the Vice President (Budgets, trends, etc.). Expert in Spreadsheet manipulation.
  • Expert in internal systems for required Project support - SAP, COUPA, Business Warehouse, SharePoint. Implement purchases, payments, and reports on behalf of project managers and department directors.
  • IO processing and report.
  • The position is responsible for cost analysis and ensuring that appropriate costs are assigned to the correct project or cost center.
  • Project support - P-Card and expense processes related to project execution.
  • Maintain Calendar for Vice President.
  • Create virtual rooms in SharePoint and resolve issues
  • Concur Expense Reporting, creation and submission plus review of department expense reports for approval.
  • Review/approve timesheets for consultants on behalf of supervisor/manager as needed
  • Meeting Responsibilities - Schedule meetings on behalf project execution team (North and South)
  • Organization: Attend meetings and prepare meeting minutes if appropriate - Coordinate meetings, including travel arrangements and expense reports, -
  • Meeting scheduling and coordination of department events., - Remind /advise users of upcoming meetings, Organize and set up web conferences.
  • Administrative support as directed by the Vice President (presentations, etc).
  • Arrange travel for Vice President.

Basic Qualifications:



  • Associate degree required
  • Minimum of 7 years administrative support or business experience


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Project management skills a plus
  • Knowledge and fluency with SAP, COUPA, CONCUR
  • Background/experience in Chemical Process Industries


The salary range for this position is $59,000 - $78,000. Messer provides medical, dental, vision, short term disability, life insurance and paid time off as well as other voluntary benefits, such as, long term disability in accordance with the terms and conditions of these Plans. Employees are eligible to enroll in Messer's 401(k) Plan. Employees may be eligible to participate in the company's bonus program.
