The Opportunity with Overcast

We areseekinga highly motivated and versatile individual to join our team as aProduct and Manufacturing Engineer. This role will be instrumental in bridging the gap between product development and manufacturing processes, ensuring the seamless transition from design concept to production reality. The successful candidate will workatbothourmanufacturing facilityas well as ata key,localcontract manufacturer, taking ownership of prototype development, product refinement, and manufacturing optimization.This position requires aproactiveself-starterwith a passion for hands-on prototypingand product refinementwho can work independentlyin amanufacturingenvironmentwith a strong emphasis on sheet metal fabrication. Additional responsibilities include:

Leadership & Management

  • Keymemberof theengineeringand manufacturingteamsresponsible for managing products throughallproduct development lifecycles.
  • Implementa robust project management process and deliverymethodologyto keep projects on schedule and on budget.
  • Define project assignments forcross-disciplinaryproject team members to maximize resources and provide clarity of responsibilities andaccountabilities.
  • Keep informedonchanges within the industry andshare with theorganization.
  • Demonstrate a desire and potential to grow into a leadership role within theorganization.
  • Contribute to the development of talentand knowledgewithin the organization.

Product Design and Optimization

  • Collaboratetorefine andoptimizeproduct designs formanufacturing and assembly (DFMA).
  • Participate in design reviews and other engineering processes to ensure product quality and compliance with company standards.
  • Implement design improvements to enhance product performance, user experience, aesthetics, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Provide technical supportrelated to productlinesduringall phases of product developmentfromprototypingtoproductionand beyond.
  • Create and maintainDriveWorksconfigurations, templates, and rules to automate design tasks withinSolidworks.
  • Utilize,maintain,and continuously improve the company'sProduct Lifecycle Management(PLM)systemto ensure dataintegrity.
  • Create and manage Bills of Materials (BOMs), Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), and product configurations in the PLM system.
  • Perform root cause analysis and develop corrective action plans asrequired.
  • Provide onsite engineering support at project sites asrequired.

Prototype Development

  • Desireand abilityto learnhow tosafelyoperatefabrication equipment.
  • Utilize sheet metal fabrication equipment to prototype parts and assemblies.
  • Iterate designs based on prototype testing and feedback.

Manufacturing Process Improvement

  • Work closely with ourmanufacturing team andcontract manufacturerstooptimizemanufacturing processes for efficiency, quality, and scalability.
  • Identifyopportunities for automation, process streamlining, and cost reduction.

Quality Assurance and Testing

  • Work with ourDirector of Operationstoimplementand refinequality control procedures to ensure that manufactured products meet rigorous quality standards and specifications.
  • Conduct thorough testing and analysis toidentifyand address any product defects or performance issues.
  • Assistwith incoming inspection of parts and assemblies.

Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teamsacross the organizationincludingbusiness development, sales engineering,manufacturing, supply chain, and quality assuranceteamsto drive alignment and achieve projectobjectives.
  • Travelto collaboratewith engineering and business development teamslocatedin Seattle.
  • Communicate effectively across teams tofacilitateknowledge sharing and problem-solving.

What You Need to Succeed at Overcast

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering,Electrical Engineering,ora relatedfield. Advanced degree or relevant certifications preferred.
  • Three(3) to Five (5)years of experience in mechanical design, electrical design,engineering, or related field required.Experience working in a product manufacturing environment isrequired.
  • Demonstrated experience as a creative, innovative, and agile team player.
  • Hands-on experience with sheet metal fabrication equipment and processes.
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities, witha keenattention to detail.
  • Proficiencyinsoftware for productdesign includingSolidworks,Driveworks,SolidworksPDM,and Product Lifecycle Management(PLM)databases.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams.
  • Ambition and drive to pursue leadership opportunities.

The pay range for this position is $75,870 - $116,010 per year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Base pay information is based on market location. A bonus may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
