This position provides effective legal representation, either personally or by retaining and supervising outside counsel that handles complex litigation involving the corporation within established corporate guidelines and the applicable code of professional responsibility. Manages litigation of a most complex nature involving the corporation within established corporate guidelines, applicable standards of good faith. You will report to a senior manager, litigation.

Position Compensation Range:

$113,000.00 - $194,000.00

Compensation may vary based on the job level and your geographic work location. Relocation support is offered for eligible candidates.

Primary Accountabilities

  • Support the corporate discovery team with handling of corporate discovery responses, corporate witnesses, subpoenas, litigation holds, and ESI preservation.

  • Coordinate peer review of briefs and develop strategy for operational motions and appeals across the company.
  • Analyze legal questions, conduct legal research, and advise leadership in various areas of the corporation.
  • Participate in development of corporate litigation strategies.
  • Contribute to other department and organization projects as assigned.
  • Manage outside counsel in complex litigation matters involving the corporation.
  • Analyze file as litigation progresses. Evaluate cases and seek settlement as necessary.
  • Stay current on state and federal statutes and court decisions and analyze how statutes and court decisions affect the interpretation and enforceability of various policy provisions or other operational concerns.
  • May have or develop areas of specialty practice (e.g. employment law, wage and hour disputes, class actions, life insurance litigation, agency errors and omissions, privacy, etc.).

Specialized Knowledge & Skills Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support or service.

  • Demonstrated experience preparing civil pleadings, motions and discovery and deposing witnesses.

  • Demonstrated litigation experience.

  • Solid knowledge and understanding of rules of Professional Responsibility for the jurisdiction in which they practice.

  • Solid knowledge and understanding of tort, contract, and insurance law.

  • Admitted to the state bar in the state where they are located or (1) admission to the bar within one year of hire for individuals who must pass a bar exam or portions of a bar exam to be admitted or (2) bar admission as soon as practicable but no later than 60 days of hire for individuals with diploma privilege or who are eligible for in-house counsel registration.

  • Juris Doctor

In this hybrid role you will be expected to work 10 days per month out of one of the following offices: Madison, WI.
