Description

As part of a Credit Resource Center (CRC) team, Reviews consumer and small business loan applications in accordance with consumer and small business underwriting guidelines and controls the quality of credit through adherence to same. Determines the disposition of the application within regulatory guidelines. Mentors the loan originators to strengthen their knowledge of the lending process. Structures the loan transactions to minimize risk. Insures that all regulatory deadlines are met and that the loan package is compliant. Regular, reliable attendance is required. Perform compliance and risk management duties as required or assigned

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Sales:



  • Maintains current knowledge of WTB loan and competitor products, services and rates.
  • Promotes the Bank's product line and relationship selling in conjunction with lending function; i.e., automatic payment deduction and payment protection coverage.
  • Promotes the cross-sell of additional products and loan features by reminding the originators of potential products and/or features.


Service:



  • Provides quality customer service to loan applicants either in person or through the loan originator process as an integral part of the Division's strategy of both loan and deposit growth.
  • Delivers quality service to meet originator and ultimately customer needs.
  • Reviews loan applications in a thorough and proactive manner.
  • Makes timely credit recommendations subject to lending authority limits which include dollar and underwriting limits. Credit transactions exceeding limits are subject to second review.
  • Works with the loan originators to maximize the potential of each credit application.


Administrative:



  • Complies with all CRC policies and procedures to insure maximum efficiency and standardization
  • Routinely works the underwriter backlog report to insure that all loan files and follow up information are obtained in a timely manner. Contacts all originators that are responsible for missing application, compliance or regulatory information.
  • Attends classes/seminars and read literature to maintain a working knowledge of legal, regulatory and environmental issues relevant to consumer & small business lending.
  • Takes a proactive role in reviewing department policies and procedures and bring any recommendations and/or deficiencies to management's attention. Ensure ongoing cross-training programs are in process in mentoring assignments
  • Attends classes for personal development, obtain information and read pertinent materials to stay informed of the industry.
  • Further develops leadership, sales and service skills through bank, education and community opportunities.


QUALIFICATIONS



  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong knowledge of consumer loans, small business loans, legal, regulatory and environmental issues.
  • Highly developed analytical skills for making sound credit decisions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated quality service skills.
  • Prioritizes and handles multiple tasks by utilizing good organizational and time management skills.
  • Interaction with others to achieve a common goal.
  • Ability to become proficient in automated underwriting programs.
  • Required to have or obtain a Mortgage Loan Originator registration number through the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System & Registry (NMLS)


Compensation:

CRC Underwriter I - $21.68 - $32.55 per hour
CRC Underwriter II - $24.82 - $37.23 per hour
CRC Underwriter III - $28.46 - $42.70 per hour

The compensation range represents the low and high end of the base compensation range for this position. Actual compensation will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance.
