Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Principal - Design Engineering Services in our Energy/Energy Transition Operation based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, the ability to work remotely from your home-office may be available at the discretion of the Company. This role will help us expand business opportunities, enhance Geosyntec's energy projects footprint in key geographies, establish and grow our Design Engineering services, and build teams in support of clients primarily within the Energy and Energy Transition Sectors. The ideal candidate must have an entrepreneurial attitude, enthusiasm for supporting business development, and a technical background which will expand Geosyntec's market share.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Collaboration and mentorship are cornerstones of Geosyntec's culture. We expect that you will work on challenging technical projects while leveraging your existing knowledge and experience to help Geosyntec expand its current practices and capabilities through business development and client management. You may also be asked to take on project leadership, staff mentorship and development responsibilities. Some key responsibilities of this position may include:

    Accountable for defining the capital projects engineering service line strategy, including priority markets, services, and delivery model;
  • Responsible for building and scaling teams through internal development and targeted recruiting;
  • Own growth targets for the engineering service line, including revenue, backlog, and client diversification.
  • Securing energy and energy transition projects across the capital project lifecycle by integrating engineering services with environmental, permitting, and advisory teams;
  • Leading multiple projects within the scope/budget/schedule expectations and ensuring quality standards on project deliverables;
  • Effectively stewarding and building client relationships to repeat business;
  • Developing business opportunities with new and existing clients and preparing associated proposals and go-to-market strategies; and
  • Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed.


Education and Licensure

  • Bachelor's degree in civil or mechanical engineering. (required)
  • Advanced degree in the same field. (preferred)
  • Leadership courses and training (preferred)


Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • At least 15 years of experience working within the Energy Sector or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • Experience developing capital projects related to the planning, financing, engineering, and construction for the project lifecycle. (required)
  • Experience in targeting and securing large energy infrastructure projects. (required)
  • Experience in managing and directing large energy infrastructure projects (including engineering teams). (required)
  • Experience managing the overall delivery of projects including project planning and controls, financial management, change management, risk management, and contract/subcontract management. (required)
  • Experience in conducting technical due diligence for seller and buyer sides, advisory services. (required)
  • Experience with U.S. policies and engineering standards. (required)
  • Overnight travel may be required.
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing may be required.
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
