POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for the granular plant, drying and milling systems including the production of quality products and the safe and efficient operation of the granular plant, dryer and mills.

RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS:

Production

  • Ensure that all designated in process samples are properly taken, tested, and recorded as required by the Quality Manual.
  • Monitor all processing equipment and make suitable adjustments as necessary to maintain product specifications and production rates.
  • Ensure that plant status/safety/environmental inspections are completed and recorded once per shift by the designated party.
  • Ensure that the plant loader is properly inspected prior to shift operation and all conditions noted; if unsafe, unit is to be parked and tagged.
  • Maintain thorough communications with next shift operator to inform of status or conditions changes.
  • Direct the assistant operator and loader operator in the efficient and safe performance of their jobs meeting the needs of the plant operations.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping in control room and plant systems.

Quality Control

  • Follow all procedures and strive for continuous improvement of products and processes.
  • Report any deviations from the norm that might impact product quality or processing efficiencies.
  • Shut down or alter production process to maintain Quality Control or to protect personnel or equipment.
  • Strive for 100% Customer Satisfaction.
  • Understand and work within Safe Quality Food certification requirements as required.

Backup

  • To back up any qualified position as assigned by the supervisor.
  • To be backed up by any qualified team member as assigned by the supervisor.

Safety

  • Attend scheduled safety meetings.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment and promote safety among co-workers.
  • Participate in EHS insight program and attend and participate in all safety meetings.
  • Comply with and enforce all company, local, state, and federal safety policies and procedures.

Reporting

  • Record equipment data, inventories, and operational data on the plant log sheet and notebook.
  • Call out after hours maintenance personnel.

Other

  • Call out after hours maintenance personnel.
  • Perform or assist with maintenance tasks as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

ATTRIBUTES:

  • Ability to consistently meet the production goals as set forth in the budget.
  • Must be willing to objectively evaluate new and modified procedures in an effort to optimize safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Must be willing to actively participate in problem solving discussions to establish root causes and improved methods.
  • Must be able to learn and demonstrate the proper operation of multiple pieces of equipment and effectively teach others the proper operation of equipment and best mining practices.
  • Must understand the mechanics of the process equipment and material flow through the plant.
  • Must be safety oriented with the ability to work well within a team environment.
  • Must be capable of performing the essential job duties required of this job
  • Must be capable of working any shift, overtime, be on-call, or work seven days a week, if needed.
  • Must be able to multitask with a strong sense of urgency to meet the customer needs.
  • Must be able to work well within a team environment and take instructions from management and co-workers.
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently.
  • Must possess the basic reading and math skills.
  • Must have good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must possess basic computer skills on how to use MS Office products and SAP is a plus
  • Strong record of attendance reliability.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Must be physically able to perform work assigned.
  • Must be physically capable of accessing all plant locations.
  • Access all areas within a site which could include heights of 120 feet, confined spaces, climbing ladders or stairs, and accessing tunnels.
  • Will be working at times in covered environment but mainly in a mining environment.
  • The employee will be exposed to the following working conditions: Extreme Heat and Cold, Noise, Vibration, Oils, and Atmospheric Conditions such as Dust, Fumes, and Mineral Particles.
  • The employee will be required to perform the following actions (from time to time): Standing, walking, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, talking, seeing, hearing and sitting.
  • Ability to consistently lift over 96 pounds as needed.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.

PREFFERED EDUCATION:

  • Technical training or AA degree in technical related field is desired.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Three (3) years minimum experience in heavy manufacturing and/or mining experience is highly preferred.

PREFFERED EXPERIENCE:

  • Five (5) + years
