SUMMARY Children's Hospital Colorado and its Genomics program strives to ensure the most appropriate and streamlined access to testing. The primary responsibility of the Genetic Counselor as part of the Laboratory Genomics Services Support will be to provide operational support for pre-testing evaluations across the system of care. Additional responsibilities will include liaising between the laboratory and other institutional service lines to develop protocols to improve the genetic testing process, timely delivery of results and appropriate use of genomic testing across the system of care. This position will support Client Services by enhancing the clients access to genetic testing through counseling, testing support, and, as a subject matter expert, drive education and dissemination of information across the network of care. The laboratory operates in compliance with CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act) standards and inspected by the CAP (College of American Pathologists). To successfully perform this role requires a thorough understanding of genetic testing workflows, the capacity to work both independently and collaboratively, and a strong propensity for critical thinking, decision making, and excellent communication and organizational skills. SHIFT Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Work hours may vary based on needs of the department. Supports the Precision Diagnostics Laboratory as part of the Lab Genomics Service Support team. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: Master's Degree in Genetics Experience: Two (2) years clinical or research experience in genetic counseling Equivalency: None Certification(s): Board eligibility or certification by American Board of Genetic Counseling Salary Information As part of our Total Rewards package, Children's Colorado offers an annual employee bonus program that rewards eligible team members based on organizational performance.
