Plant Controller

We are looking for our next Plant Controller to play a critical role in supporting financial management and reporting for the plant. This position is responsible for monthly analysis and follow-up of plant costs, preparation of forecasts and ad hoc reports, and ensuring the integrity of financial and operational data. The Plant Controller will work closely with plant leadership and cross-functional teams to provide insightful financial analysis and support business decision-making. The ideal candidate will be highly analytical, detail-oriented, and adept at collaborating with both finance and non-finance stakeholders.

This position is located in Midland, MI

Compensation:

The current salary range for this role is estimated to be $111,000-$133,000. In addition, this position may also be eligible to earn performance-based incentive compensation. The specific compensation offered to a candidate will be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

What You'll Do:

  • Monthly Analysis & Reporting
    • Analyze and monitor fixed, variable, and MPE (Manufacturing, Production, and Engineering) cost monthly.
    • Prepare and distribute monthly forecasts and ad-hoc cost reports.
    • Conduct variance analysis and identify business drivers impacting plant performance.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting
    • Support the annual plant Profit Objective preparation and ongoing financial planning.
    • Conduct cost simulations for different scenarios, including changes in production or materials.
    • Provide timely and accurate information to plant management and group.
  • Cost Management & Process Improvement
    • Review unit prices for materials manufactured and maintain Material Master Data accuracy.
    • Run standard and actual cost estimates; identify areas for cost optimization.
    • Coordinate with Supply Chain to ensure the accuracy of process orders and inventory data.
  • Business Partnering
    • Work closely with Plant Manager and plant leadership to identify opportunities for business improvement.
    • Your role includes influencing decisions and helping the business move in the right direction by actively driving change
    • Provide support to nonfinance colleagues by translating financial information into clear, practical guidance they can use in their daily decisions.
    • Provide ongoing guidance and support to non-finance personnel on accounting matters, accruals, and financial processes.
  • Internal Controls & Compliance
    • Ensure strong SOX controls at the plant by maintaining compliant processes, monitoring key controls, and supporting audits to guarantee accuracy and integrity in financial reporting
    • Serve as point of contact for internal and external audits.
    • Perform or support account reconciliations as needed.
  • Project Involvement
    • Participate in finance projects and initiatives impacting plant operations.
    • Contribute to the implementation of new financial processes, systems, and best practices

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a finance or accounting role, in a manufacturing or plant environment.
  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Knowledge of internal controls (SOX), cost accounting, and inventory management.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
