Position Overview
| Essential Job Duties |
The Peng Lab, situated within the College of Veterinary Medicine and the NC State Bioinformatics Research Center, utilizes data-driven strategies to investigate the complexities of the immune system and infectious disease. We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to drive the management, processing, and analysis of large-scale deep sequencing data from collaborative microbiome projects.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- In this role, the successful candidate will not only manage existing data streams but also spearhead the development of novel computational methods and pipelines to explore the intricate interactions between the microbiome and mammalian host immunity.
- As a vital member of a multidisciplinary team, the Fellow will collaborate daily with a diverse group of scientists, including experimental biologists, to translate data into biological insights. We are looking for an initiative-taking researcher who thrives in a collaborative environment, is eager to present findings at major scientific meetings, and is committed to authoring high impact primary research articles.
- The research scholar will attend scientific meetings to present research progress and author primary research articles.
- The research scholar will assist with the generation of research hypotheses. It is anticipated that the candidate will contribute preliminary data to research proposals and serve as a co-investigator and/or key personnel.

Requirements and Preferences

Monday-Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm additional hours may be required |
| Department Required Skills |
- Experienced in Linux environment and computer clusters
- Experienced in programming (Python, Java, or C/C++) and statistical analysis (R, MATLAB)
- Critical thinking skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Good understanding of general biology and willingness to learn basic immunology.
