Production Machinist
Position Summary: Following predetermined procedures, duties will include but not be limited to set ups and operating on a production basis, Set-up and operate Conventional and CNC Lathe, turret lathe, engine lathe, Conventional and CNC mills and other machine shop equipment to perform machining operations to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts. Must have inspection techniques and shop safety. Selects mounts and aligns tooling attachments and materials. Able to work from drawings to set & adjust speeds, feeds to hold close tolerances. Knowledge of Fadal and Haas Machines is a plus. Responsibilities: An individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Good understanding of ESD controls, resistance welding, working under microscopes, soldering, epoxy mixing, bonding, assembly and packaging techniques, as well as handling of classified assemblies. Essential duties include, but are not limited to:
Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
- Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or workpiece as guides for subsequent machining.
Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, saws, etc.
- Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.
- Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.
- Verifies conformance of finished workpiece to specifications.
- Sets up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.
- Installs machined replacement parts in mechanisms, machines, and equipment, and tests operation of unit to ensure functionality and performance.
- Maintains and cleans machining equipment.
- Creates tooling and holding fixtures as required to fabricate parts.
- May be assigned to assist other departments.
Job Specifications The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required for the position. Education and Years of Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Six (6) or more years' experience operating and setting-up Conventional and CNC Lathes, Mills and other machine shop equipment. Must work independently, produce quality parts and be able to inspect own work. Must have training in CNC machining, inspection techniques and shop safety. Requires experience with handling precision machine parts, metal finishes and assemblies - Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organizations. Ability to communicate in English.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to carry out detailed, but uninvolved, written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations

- Computer Skills: When working with CNC equipment may be required to find, load, alter and save NC programs. May require minor program editing. 4 Axis is a plus

- Pay Range: $23.75/hr to $39.55/hr
