Responsibilities
ECS is seeking a Building Enclosure Project Professional to join our Mid-Atlantic Building Science & Infrastructure team in Roanoke, VA. The Project Professional supports building enclosure consulting projects including field investigations, testing, analysis, reporting, and client coordination. Responsibilities
- Demonstrate basic knowledge of building science & infrastructure related testing and consulting services.
- Collaborate with staff members on a variety of projects. Actively mentor junior staff and support overall development of the team.
- Coordinate and attend project meetings, providing solutions to technical and administrative issues as necessary.
- Interface with clients on a regular basis. Maintain and develop a client database.
- Assist with management of project budgets. Prepare change orders, invoices, and assist with collection efforts. Proactively communicate with the project team regarding testing or budget concerns.
- Prioritize tasks to meet project deadlines and consult with supervisors as needed to support weekly workload planning.
- Prepare building science & infrastructure reports, perform analysis, and provide recommendations for review by senior staff. Interpret test results, identify issues, and recommend corrective actions.
- Initiate project setup and implementation with limited supervision.
Manage multiple building science & infrastructure projects simultaneously, providing technical support as needed. - Prepare proposals and change orders.
- Review deliverables prepared by subordinate staff prior to submission for senior and principal review.
- Host or attend project discussions with clients and follow up on reports to determine if there are questions.
- Perform daily site observations or inspections of roofing and completed building assemblies and conduct routine visits to active project sites to ensure appropriate quality and progress.
Review quality assurance observation reports and communicate project milestones or significant changes with clients. Mentor junior staff as needed. Direct site activities and maintain communication with field staff, subcontractors, and senior managers. Discuss potential impacts of site changes on project outcomes or budgets with the project Principal. Perform specialized building enclosure testing and assist with development of test plans and protocols aligned with project requirements and industry standards. Maintain an understanding of key testing standards and how field testing, system limitations, and test outcomes relate to design performance and potential failures. Assist with building enclosure and/or structural consulting and forensic assessments as requested. Assist senior staff with commissioning projects, including witnessing and documenting testing and system performance. Assist with new construction design reviews and the design of repairs to existing building envelope components. Assist with peer review of designs, specifications, and submittals. Direct and coordinate field work performed by subcontractors and ECS field staff on routine projects with support from senior staff - Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Qualifications
- 6+ years of experience in building science & infrastructure consulting or an equivalent combination of advanced education and experience
- Experience with non-destructive testing preferred
- High school diploma or GED required. Associate or bachelor's degree preferred
- Professional certifications (such as NRCA/RCI, AWCI, Certified EIFS Inspector, ICC, IIBEC, Certified Installer/Applicator, etc.) preferred
- Additional training and/or certifications may be required as assigned by supervisor
