Job Description

The Category Manager - Facilities is a leader within Indirect Procurement responsible for developing and executing multi-year category strategies for Facilities-related goods and services across North America sites. This role delivers value from the supply base by reducing total cost of ownership, mitigating risk, improving service and quality performance, and identifying working capital opportunities that support both short-term business plans and long-term enterprise goals.

This position manages an annual spend portfolio of approximately $60 million across more than 30+ manufacturing sites. The role partners with internal stakeholders and suppliers to ensure an uninterrupted supply of quality goods and services at the optimum total cost, while driving disciplined sourcing, supplier relationship management, and contract execution.

The role requires strong engagement with stakeholders at multiple levels, including plant and functional leaders, technical resources, mid-level leadership, and senior business leaders. While the primary focus is North America Facilities, the position also evaluates opportunities to leverage scale, share best practices, and coordinate with global procurement peers where appropriate.

WHAT YOU GET TO DO

  • Strategy Implementation (50%) - Supports implementation of overall multi-year procurement strategies and translates the strategies into concrete action plans at the site level.
  • Relationship Management (10%) - Develops strong relationships with stakeholders and suppliers.
  • Negotiation (20%) - Manages the negotiation preparation and process as well as results.
  • Analysis (20%) - Provides analysis and recommendations for cost savings opportunities.

WHAT WE VALUE

  • Ability to support concurrent projects across multiple manufacturing plants and obtain buy-in and collaboration from the functional leaders at the individual sites.
  • Flexibility to navigate seamlessly throughout the organization (with functions such as Quality, Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, Research & Development) during the project lifecycle, fostering relationships with partners throughout the business to achieve project deliverables.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively liaise with multiple stakeholders having, at times, conflicting needs and priorities.
  • Proven process to develop supplier relationships in a way that encourages open dialogue and cooperating in identifying and implementing win-win situations that add value to both organizations.

WHAT WE WANT FROM YOU

  • Bachelor's level degree or equivalent experience.
  • Master's Degree as an advantage
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in Procurement, Operations, Supply Chain or related field.
  • Working knowledge of purchasing processes and supplier quality systems.
  • Experience with Lean, Six Sigma process improvement methodologies or similar as an advantage.
  • Expertise / mastery in desktop analytical tools (excel, databases, tableau or equivalent).
  • SAP and/or other ERP systems experience as an advantage.
  • Demonstrated excellent negotiation skills, with focus on identification of the win-win scenarios.
  • Proven problem-solving ability to be given an issue and to work backwards to identify resolutions.
  • Strong action/results orientation with the ability to work with minimal oversight, to be self-motivated and proactive in achieving individual/team objectives.
