Job Description




As a Security Officer - Utility Infrastructure Patrol Driver in FAIRFAX, VA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Utilities, and more. As an unarmed, driving patrol officer at a utilities location, you will conduct routine vehicle patrols, stay highly visible to help reduce security-related incidents, support access control and badge checks, and respond to calls for assistance. You will represent Allied Universal with strong customer service and clear communication, working as part of a team that acts with integrity while staying agile, reliable, innovative, and people-first.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to facility staff, contractors, and/or visitors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Respond to incidents, alarms, and/or critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, and notify appropriate personnel as required.
  • Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of utility plant buildings, operational areas, parking lots, and perimeter fencing to help to deter unauthorized access and identify unusual conditions.
  • Control access at designated entry points by verifying identification, issuing visitor credentials, and/or managing contractor check-in in accordance with site procedures.
  • Complete patrol logs, incident reports, and shift activity documentation, and communicate relevant updates during post orders briefings and shift transitions.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A valid driver's license is required in accordance with Allied Universal driver policy requirements.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • CPR and/or First Aid certification is preferred.
  • Access control and/or badge experience is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
