Job Description




As a Security Officer - Public Sector Patrol Driver in San Jose, CA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. As an unarmed Patrol Officer in a government transit setting, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, conduct routine rounds, stay visible to help reduce security-related incidents, and support riders and staff with clear communication and customer service. This is a driving post, so you will use a valid driver's license to move between locations as needed. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to riders, visitors, and staff by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at government transportation facilities.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including disputes, disturbances, medical situations, and suspicious activity; document actions taken according to post orders.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols of stations, platforms, transit centers, parking areas, and perimeter points to help to deter unauthorized activity and/or hazards; working environments and conditions may vary by location.
  • Monitor access points and public areas, assist with wayfinding and policy questions, and coordinate with transit personnel and/or local emergency services partners when escalation is needed.
  • Complete required reports and logs, maintain awareness of surroundings, and communicate clearly with dispatch and site contacts using radios and/or other approved systems.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A valid driver's license is required in accordance with Allied Universal driver policy requirements.
  • Be 21+ years of age.
  • At this site there are limited on-site facilities such as portable toilets and rustic guard shacks.
  • CPR certification preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
