At Sonos we want to create the ultimate listening experience for our customers and know that it starts by listening to each other. As part of the Sonos team, you'll collaborate with people of all styles, skill sets, and backgrounds to realize our vision while fostering a community where everyone feels included and empowered to do the best work of their lives.
Location: Boston, MA - Hybrid At Sonos, we're passionate about creating the ultimate listening experience - and that starts with how we build software. The Software Delivery & Operations group designs, develops, and operates the shared platforms, tools, and processes that enable Sonos teams to deliver high-quality software efficiently and securely. We're seeking a Senior Technical Program Manager to drive initiatives that improve developer experience, software quality, and operational excellence through better systems, smarter processes, and strategic use of AI. This role sits at the intersection of engineering and IT, shaping the systems and workflows that power Sonos product development across cloud, mobile, web, and embedded platforms. It's ideal for a technically fluent leader who loves creating clarity, structure, and continuous improvement in complex, cross-functional environments.
About You
You're passionate about how software gets built - and even more passionate about making it better. You combine the structure of a program manager with the curiosity of an engineer and the mindset of a builder. You believe great systems empower great teams, and you're excited about the potential of AI-assisted development to unlock new levels of speed, quality, and creativity across Sonos engineering. You bring the structure of a program manager, the curiosity of an engineer, and the drive of a builder who knows that great systems empower great teams. You see the transformative potential of AI-assisted development and want to be part of shaping how engineers and intelligent tools collaborate to deliver more, faster, and better.
What You'll Do
Advance the Software Development Ecosystem at Sonos
Lead cross-functional programs that enhance Sonos' shared software platforms - spanning build systems, CI/CD, telemetry, testing, security, and release management. Improve how software is developed, tested, and delivered, balancing speed, quality, and reliability across the organization. Partner with engineering and IT teams to refine the Sonos software operating model - defining how work is tracked, how capacity is planned, and how progress is measured. Establish consistent program structures, templates, and dashboards that bring transparency and predictability to engineering delivery.
Empower Developers Through AI and Automation
Drive initiatives that integrate AI-assisted development tools - such as code assistants, agentic code reviewers, and intelligent bots - into Sonos' developer workflows. Leverage AI to enhance code quality, security, and productivity through automated testing, static analysis, and intelligent summarization. Collaborate with engineering leadership to ensure AI tooling and automation augment developer creativity and accelerate delivery. Champion the responsible and strategic use of AI across the software lifecycle, ensuring measurable impact on development speed, code quality, and innovation.
Enable Developer Productivity and Platform Excellence
Collaborate across Sonos' software domains - including cloud services, control apps, and embedded systems - to define shared "golden paths" that simplify development while maintaining autonomy. Partner closely with the Product Security, System Test, and Product Data teams to ensure that testing, telemetry, and security workflows are integrated into every stage of the development process. Drive alignment between developer tooling, SDLC best practices, and release operations to deliver consistency without unnecessary friction. Support continuous improvement by analyzing data and feedback to identify where process or tooling changes will have the greatest impact.
Operationalize Software Delivery Excellence
Define and maintain the operating cadence for Sonos software delivery - including planning cycles, reviews, executive reporting, and ongoing improvement initiatives. Build and maintain systems for work tracking, metrics reporting, and capacity management using Jira, GitHub, and Confluence. Implement and evolve engineering metrics frameworks (DORA, SPACE) to measure team performance, delivery predictability, and developer experience. Partner with engineering and IT leadership to scale systems and workflows that sustain high performance as the organization and product portfolio grow.
What You'll Need
Required Qualifications
6+ years leading technical programs in software engineering or platform productivity organizations. Deep understanding of modern software development practices (Agile, CI/CD, DevSecOps) and associated tooling (e.g., GitHub, Jenkins or GitHub Actions, AWS, Jira). Strong technical fluency; able to engage deeply with engineering teams about build systems, developer tooling, and automation. Proven success driving initiatives that improve engineering velocity, quality, or operational reliability. Excellent communication, influence, and collaboration skills - capable of aligning diverse teams toward shared outcomes.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience deploying or scaling AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, custom LLM-based code assistants, automated documentation or review bots). Knowledge of software telemetry, developer analytics, and software intelligence platforms (e.g., LinearB, Jellyfish). Background in software delivery for connected or embedded products (IoT, mobile, or cloud-based ecosystems). Familiarity with software metrics and frameworks (DORA, SPACE) and how they inform continuous improvement. Passion for developer experience and platform engineering - helping teams do their best work through better systems, not more processes.
