This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

As part of a small, passionate and accomplished team of experts, you will require extensive knowledge of hand tools such as grinders, hand drills, cut-off wheels and saws along with safe working practices is a must to support Blue Origin's launch vehicle programs. You will share in the team's impact on all aspects of additively manufactured spaceflight and supporting hardware, continuous improvement, automation, and process development. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight.

Responsibilities:

  • Remove support materials from additively manufactured parts with meticulous attention-to-detail.
  • Identifying part defects such as cracks, deformation from thermal stress during the build process as well as missing geometry due to failed supported areas or non-supported down surfaces. Report such defects to management and post per the Blue Origin tracking ticket system
  • Smoothing rough downward facing build surfaces with proper hand tools to the called out Ra spec on the part drawing. This will require the use of a Profilometer and documenting the results.
  • Inspection tool knowledge: Height Gage, scribers, caliper, Micrometer, etc...
  • Track consumables, supplies, and raw materials, and actively maintain ownership of related purchasing activities.
  • Maintain and utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and proactively identify any related shortcomings.
  • Meet and attempt to exceed quality, and schedule expectations through clear communication.
  • Document every discrepancy/anomalies per Blue Origin requirements.
  • Ability to cross train into other AM work centers as needed. EDM, 3D scanning, powder removal, tensile turning and ultrasonic cleaning.
  • Preventative Maintenance understanding i.e. Hydrontron (down draft table) Dustron (Grinding Booth), Media Blaster and air tools.
  • Identify job hazard analysis (JHA) shortcomings and aid in their authorship.
  • Laser Part marking per drawing call-out.
  • Practice safe work place techniques.

Qualifications:

  • An attitude of world-class quality, attention to detail, and dedication
  • Demonstrated track record of resourcefulness from their previous assignments
  • 1-3 years of hands on build experience (spacecraft, airplanes, cars/trucks, boats)
  • Experience operating and fabricating with shop equipment such as mills, lathes, drill press, and band saws.

Compensation Range for:

WA applicants is $22.89 - $32.04

  • Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
