DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The Maintenance Repairman 1, working under the guidance of the Park Maintenance Supervisor, is tasked with a diverse range of maintenance duties that require meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational skills. This role encompasses the upkeep of all park facilities, vehicles, equipment, and infrastructure. You must possess foundational knowledge and skills to assist in various trades, including carpentry, plumbing, heating, mechanical work, masonry, electrical tasks, welding, and landscaping. Additionally, the employee should be capable of operating and assisting with tractors, dump trucks, pickup trucks, and various motorized turf maintenance equipment, as well as chainsaws and trimmers, while being able to read and comprehend the manuals related to this equipment. Assignments are communicated through oral or written instructions and are evaluated upon completion to ensure they meet established standards for quality and thoroughness. The Maintenance Repairman 1 also plays a vital role in providing assistance to park visitors, clarifying park rules and regulations, and is committed to practicing safety in all job aspects on a daily basis. This includes actively participating in a safety program by regularly reviewing safety procedures. Furthermore, you will assist in conducting the annual inventory of supplies, fuels, equipment, and tools, preparing the necessary reports, and may act as a lead worker for Semi-Skilled Laborers during project execution.
In the realm of facilities and maintenance, the Maintenance Repairman 1 applies basic knowledge across various trades relevant to park maintenance while demonstrating proficiency in at least one area. In painting, for instance, the individual undertakes a variety of tasks involving the painting and staining of buildings, signs, bridges, and other structures associated with the trade. In carpentry, you will engage in basic-level tasks such as assembling and constructing picnic tables, window frames, benches, cabinets, bulletin boards, and display cases. You are also responsible for constructing or repairing wooden foot or vehicle bridges, fences, and roofs, as well as installing paneling, molding, and trim. The Maintenance Repairman 1 may assist in more complex construction projects, contributing to the building of structures from the ground up, thereby ensuring the park's facilities are well-maintained and functional for public use. Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Employee in this position will be required to work weekends, and holidays as required. Days/Shifts will vary, employee will work 37.5 hrs./5 days per week.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Two years of experience in general maintenance work which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.
Special Requirements:
- You must possess a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.
