Georgia-Pacific is seeking a Plant Manager for its Fort Dodge, IA - Gypsum Manufacturing Facility as well as the associated Off-site Quarry location. This position is responsible for overseeing all operations of both facilities, which collectively employ approximately 160 full-time staff members. The selected candidate will focus on building and leading high-performing teams to ensure operational excellence within a competitive manufacturing environment.

The Plant Manager leads a team to success while ensuring a safe and injury/incident-free environment in our fast-paced plant. They motivate, coach, and inspire by demonstrating, promoting, and applying Georgia-Pacific's Principle-Based Management (PBM) in daily actions and decisions to deliver maximum value to the business and our customers.

What You Will Do

  • Lead a team aligned with our company vision where individuals understand how they best create value.

  • Coaching, motivating, and mentoring the team to drive safe and efficient behaviors leading to positive outcomes.
  • Facilitate team and employee development, problem-solving and resolution, building employee commitment and ownership, and holding employees accountable.
  • Take accountability for safety, quality, and efficiency through leadership, individual ownership and accountability, teamwork, and delegation.
  • Use critical & economic thinking, challenge process, and team collaboration to resolve issues and drive safety excellence, efficiencies and innovation.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • A minimum of six (6) years of plant management experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment, -- OR -- three (3) years of plant management experience in the Gypsum industry - leading manufacturing processes, including work processes, operations excellence, maintenance, reliability, and continuous improvement.
  • Transformation experience utilizing automation and advanced technology to improve operations.
  • Experience utilizing constraint analysis and continuous improvement to prioritize work and solve complex issues.
  • Experience coaching, counseling, and developing employees.
  • Experience and understanding of budgeting/expense management with a basic understanding of financial and accounting practices.
  • Large capital project Engineering or Management experience.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in a technical or business Program
  • Previous experience in the Gypsum industry
  • Experience in applying Continuous Improvement methodologies to the manufacturing process.
