Telecom / Voice Systems Technician (ON-SITE) LOCATION: ROCHESTER, NY Overview We are seeking an experienced Telecom / Voice Systems Technician to support and maintain enterprise voice, data, and video services in a 24x7 environment. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with VOIP and NEC phone systems, Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS), and endtoend voice troubleshooting. This role involves system programming, documentation, infrastructure updates, and working closely with internal teams and external vendors. Top Skills & Responsibilities Key Skills * Voice & Telephone Systems (2+ years): VOIP and NEC experience, understanding of enterprise telephony fundamentals. * Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS): Knowledge of system operation, coverage troubleshooting, and carrier coordination. * Voice Troubleshooting & Programming: Ability to diagnose voice issues end-to-end, configure and program system features, and support end users. Core Responsibilities * Program, configure, and maintain telephone system features and functionality. * Troubleshoot complex voice and data issues and provide technical support to users. * Produce and maintain documentation for voice, data, network, and cable infrastructure. * Develop and update network and cable design documentation and databases. * Monitor and respond to service tickets and system alarms. * Coordinate cable plant activities including tagging, testing, splicing, and moves. * Participate in on-call rotation and support after-hours emergencies. * Oversee vendors to ensure proper scheduling, planning, and acceptance testing. * Support new technologies and contribute to process improvements. * Maintain spare inventory and manage telecom-related equipment. Nice-to-Have Skills * MDM / Mobile support * General telecommunications experience * Phone system administration * Telecommunication infrastructure support Qualifications * Ability to work in confined spaces (closets, ceilings, crawl spaces, mechanical rooms). * Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong customer service mindset. * Experience with NEC systems (MA 4000, NEAX 2400/9300/9500) preferred. * Voicemail system experience (UM8700) preferred. * Advanced remote troubleshooting skills preferred. * Project management experience is a plus. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rochester, NY. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $40.00/hr.
