Summary
Spire is seeking a forward-thinking Manager of Financial Performance & Analytics to lead enterprise-level financial performance analysis for the gas utility. This role provides strategic insight into margin drivers, revenue performance, weather impacts, and regulatory recovery mechanisms, serving as a key finance partner to leadership.
In addition to core margin and revenue analytics, this position supports a wide range of cross-functional finance initiatives, including forecasting, scenario analysis, regulatory support, and special projects. The role is designed to be flexible and forward-looking, providing both routine performance reporting and deep analytical support for complex business decisions.

Duties and Responsibilities
Financial Performance & Margin Management
- Own and manage comprehensive financial performance analysis, including margin, revenue, and volumetric drivers
- Analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual performance versus budget, forecast, prior year, and regulatory expectations
- Identify and explain financial variances related to weather, usage, pricing, timing, and operational factors
- Monitor and assess weather normalization and decoupling mechanisms, including HDD/CDD assumptions and WNAR impacts
Forecasting, Planning & Scenario Analysis
- Lead forward-looking financial performance assessments, including full-year outlooks and multi-scenario analyses
- Evaluate exposure and opportunity related to weather variability, demand changes, supply cost movements, and billing determinants
- Integrate performance analytics into corporate forecasts, budgets, and long-range plans
Regulatory & Revenue Support
- Support rate case filings, regulatory reporting, and surveillance activities through detailed financial and margin analysis
- Partner with Regulatory Affairs to evaluate revenue recovery, timing differences between billed and unbilled revenue, and compliance with approved tariffs and riders
- Provide historical trend analysis and analytical support related to billing determinants and revenue decoupling mechanisms
Cross-Functional Finance Leadership
- Serve as a key finance liaison to Gas Supply, Accounting, Operations, and Regulatory teams
- Collaborate with Gas Supply on understanding supply cost impacts, procurement strategies, and margin sensitivity
- Partner with Accounting on revenue recognition, accruals, reconciliations, and financial close support
Enterprise Analytics & Special Projects
- Lead ad hoc and strategic finance projects supporting executive leadership and enterprise initiatives
- Develop financial models, dashboards, and standardized analytics to support decision-making
- Identify process improvement opportunities, automation, and enhanced controls related to financial performance reporting
Communication & Executive Support
- Prepare clear, concise, and executive-ready materials explaining financial performance and key drivers
- Present analytical findings to senior leadership, regulatory stakeholders, and internal governance groups as needed

Supervisory Responsibilities
- Preferred: Previous supervisory experience of employees that have worked in analytical or technical roles.
Required Education (certifications, licenses)
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field of study
- Preferred MBA or CPA
Required knowledge, skill and abilities
- 7 + years in finance, analytics, or performance management preferably with a regulated utility environment
- Strong understanding of utility revenue models, margin drivers, weather impacts, and regulatory recovery mechanisms.
- Advanced analytical, modeling, and problem-solving skills.
- Previous experience within the regulated utility sector strongly preferred
- Experience supporting rate cases, regulatory filings, or weather normalization methodologies
- Familiarity with gas supply economics, volumetric forecasting, and HDD/CDD analysis.
