GENERAL FUNCTION

The Director - Practice Systems Integration provides strategy, and governance for the integration and management of electronic health record (EHR), clinical systems, and digital practice tools across acquisitions. This role is accountable for managing and integrating practice systems acquired through transactions, ensuring no loss in functionality of business as a result. The Director provides executive oversight of system integration functions and is a key advisor to clinical, operational, and executive leadership.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Define and own the enterprise EHR and clinical systems strategy aligned to clinical quality, operational efficiency, growth, and acquisitions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners, 3rd party vendors, and leaders to help establish each PC's unique technology conversion strategy including but not limited to point-of-sale (POS) migration, electronic health records migration (EHR), network conversion, optometric equipment integration, data storage solutions, hardware recommendations, inventory acquisition, etc.
  • Directly partner with IT and technical partners to develop internal processes, standards, and strategies for a fast-growth plan.
  • Translates integrated practice systems and operations into the organizational strategy of the brand.
  • Lead, coach, and develop senior-level direct reports; set clear priorities, performance expectations, and accountability.
  • Build scalable operating models, playbooks, and documentation to support enterprise growth and consistency.
  • Establish enterprise standards for EHR configuration, workflows, templates, integrations, and access governance.
  • Provide executive oversight for system upgrades, enhancements, and optimization while balancing standardization and clinical usability.
  • Oversee all clinical system integrations, including diagnostic equipment, imaging platforms, practice management, billing, and third-party applications.
  • Ensure interoperability supports clinical workflows, data integrity, revenue cycle accuracy, and acquisition integration.
  • Set enterprise training, onboarding, and adoption strategy for providers and staff, including change management.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Clinical Leadership, Operations, IT, Compliance, and Revenue Cycle to translate business and clinical needs into system capabilities.


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS



  • 10+ years of experience with EHR, Practice Management Systems, and clinical technology platforms
  • Prior experience leading managers or senior individual contributors
  • Strong strategic thinking with the ability to translate vision into execution
  • Experience operating in a large, multi-site or enterprise healthcare environment
  • Excellent communication and executive presence (written, verbal, and presentation)
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex, cross-functional initiatives
  • Strong analytical, prioritization, and decision-making skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and reporting tools
  • Ability to travel up to 25%


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS



  • Optometry or ophthalmology practice experience
  • Clinical or patient care background
  • Experience supporting mergers, acquisitions, and enterprise system conversions
  • Retail optical or ambulatory specialty care experience
