Summary

GuidePoint Security is seeking a Senior Consultant - Cloud Kubernetes & Automation to help our clients design, secure, and operationalize cloud-native platforms at scale. This role sits at the intersection of Kubernetes, cloud engineering, automation, and security consulting, enabling clients to improve volume, velocity, quality, cost, and security outcomes through standardized platforms and automated delivery.

You will work closely with CSP practices, consulting leads, and enterprise clients to design, implement, and optimize Kubernetes-based platforms and automation frameworks across AWS, Azure, and GCP-accelerating secure, compliant, and scalable cloud adoption.

Key Responsibilities
Kubernetes & Platform Solution Delivery

  • Design and implement production-grade Kubernetes architectures (EKS, AKS, GKE) aligned to security, reliability, and scalability best practices.
  • Build and operationalize platform capabilities such as cluster provisioning, workload onboarding, networking, ingress, and observability.
  • Implement automation-first delivery models using GitOps, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and policy-as-code to accelerate time to value.

Cloud Security & Engineering

  • Lead technical assessments of Kubernetes and cloud-native environments, identifying risks, maturity gaps, and automation opportunities.
  • Deliver Secure Landing Zones, Kubernetes security baselines, and CNAPP-aligned platform controls.
  • Translate regulatory and security requirements into automated, repeatable guardrails for containerized workloads.

Automation & DevSecOps Enablement

  • Design and implement CI/CD and GitOps workflows integrating security, compliance, and runtime controls.
  • Automate cluster lifecycle management, configuration drift detection, and remediation using declarative tooling.
  • Integrate Kubernetes platforms with cloud-native and third-party security tooling (CSPM, CIEM, KSPM, runtime).

Consulting & Thought Leadership

  • Serve as a trusted advisor for clients on Kubernetes strategy, platform engineering, and automation maturity.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to develop service offerings around secure Kubernetes platforms, GitOps adoption, and automated compliance.
  • Contribute to strategic backlogs, proofs of concept, and reference architectures to evolve GuidePoint's cloud-native consulting services.

Collaboration & Enablement

  • Collaborate with Practice Directors, Regional Partners, and Cloud Consulting Leads to align platform outcomes to business goals.
  • Mentor junior consultants and engineers on Kubernetes, automation tooling, and secure cloud-native design.
  • Support sales enablement by providing technical input during scoping, solutioning, and proposal development.

Required Qualifications

Experience

  • 5+ years in cloud engineering, platform engineering, or cloud security roles across AWS, Azure, or GCP.

Kubernetes & Platform Expertise

  • Hands-on experience designing and operating Kubernetes platforms (EKS, AKS, GKE).
  • Strong understanding of Kubernetes networking, identity, workload isolation, and cluster security.

Cloud-Native & Automation Skills

  • Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep, Pulumi, or CloudFormation).
  • Experience with GitOps tools (Argo CD, Flux) and CI/CD platforms.

Programming & Scripting

  • Strong development skills in Python, Go, or Bash.
  • Experience building automation for platform operations, security controls, and environment provisioning.

Security Knowledge

  • Familiarity with Kubernetes security concepts (RBAC, PSP/OPA/Gatekeeper, network policies).
  • Understanding of CNAPP, CSPM, CIEM, and container/Kubernetes security tooling.
  • Knowledge of compliance frameworks (e.g., SOC 2, FedRAMP, HIPAA) and automating control enforcement.

Soft Skills

  • Strong consulting acumen with the ability to translate technical solutions into business outcomes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for executive and technical audiences.

Preferred Qualifications

Certifications

  • Kubernetes: CKA, CKAD, or CKS
  • Cloud: AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Google Professional Cloud Architect

Additional Experience

  • Experience implementing secure Kubernetes landing zones, internal developer platforms, or platform-as-a-service models.
