Overview

NV5 Geospatial is actively recruiting a Data Science Lead. Strong capabilities in leading the development of predictive and prescriptive analytics, ensuring alignment with mission objectives and the integration of AI/ML-driven insights are required. The Data Science Lead will be based on-site at US Army Garrison Miami/US Southern Command. US citizenship, along with the ability to successfully pass a basic background check for access to US military bases, is required for employment. The successful candidate will have an active TS/SCI.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the development, deployment, and evaluation of predictive and prescriptive analytics to ensure alignment with mission objectives and operational needs.
  • Establish a structured framework to distinguish data science and data engineering tasks, ensuring the effective allocation of resources and seamless collaboration between teams.
  • Detail model development progress, algorithm validation, and mission integration.
  • Coordinate with other Work Orders to access compute and storage resources required to support large scale model training and analytic workloads, including GPU-accelerated environments, high-performance object storage, and parallel data processing capabilities.
  • Implement sprint-based Agile methodologies, ensuring rapid development cycles, backlog grooming, and alignment with mission requirements.
  • Provide Rough Order of Magnitude estimates before each analytic project detailing hours, compute costs, storage consumption, and infrastructure requirements.
  • Conduct quarterly reviews to track cost efficiency, assess system performance, and optimize analytic workflows.


Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Masters's degree in Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, or eleven (11) years of equivalent experience leading AI/ML-driven analytics programs.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing, deploying, and managing enterprise-level predictive analytics solutions, ensuring governance compliance, and implementing AI/ML models at scale.
  • Demonstrated experience in mission-focused analytics, data-driven decision support, and integration of statistical and ML techniques.
  • Demonstrated experience overseeing sprint-based Agile development cycles, working within cloud-based data science environments such as AWS, Azure, or Databricks, and overseeing collaboration between data science and data engineering teams.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in advanced ML technique and data science methodology with demonstrated expertise in feature engineering, model validation, and data provenance tracking.
  • Strong leadership, strategic planning, and stakeholder engagement skills to drive mission-focused innovation.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize complex project tasks.

Preferred:

  • AWS Certified Machine Learning Specialty, Microsoft Certified AI Engineer Associate, or Certified Analytics Professional (CAP).
  • Portuguese or Spanish language skills.
  • Experience with government IT programs and environments.

Clearance Requirement:

  • Active TS/SCI
