DESCRIPTION

Under direction of surgical nurse, performs less complicated surgical technician duties utilizing specialized knowledge acquired through formal training. This position is assigned surgical technician support to surgical areas within UC San Diego Health. Duties also include verification of specialty equipment and inventory, contacting surgeons concerning equipment and supply needs for complex cases, communicating with related buyers and vendors and other staff concerning their service, contacting surgical supply companies and their vendors about malfunctioning or broken equipment, and providing continuing education in-service to staff. Performs other related tasks as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Prior Surgical Technician experience working in an inpatient main operating room.
  • Completion of surgical training from an accredited institution or specialized program.
  • BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within (6) six months of hire date.
  • 4 years' experience in the Operating room.
  • Robotic, Neuro, ortho experience.
  • Knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.
  • Knowledge of surgical instrumentation used in various surgical procedures.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • OR experience, trauma experience
  • Urology and GYN experience
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $91,329 - $91,329 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $43.74 - $43.74

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
