Job Description

Position Summary

This key position is responsible for commercial software product development for a core, high growth Rockwell Automation control system product line. This is an industry-leading industrial automation software product that has won numerous awards for innovation and usability.

In this position, you will design and develop new software features, participating in the full development lifecycle. The team performs development in a team environment utilizing sound engineering and software development practices and technology, and typically involves highly complex system design or product architecture design. Responsibilities include collaborating with and influencing multiple cross-functional teams, as well as technical leadership of a large development team or leading technical aspects of a multi-team project.

  • Participate and drive negotiations on project goals and requirements.
  • Evaluate Technology solutions. Provide cost/benefit recommendations.
  • Contribute to or develop architectural designs and independently develop complex system designs that meet the requirements.
  • Develop and documents code, according to the development process, that satisfies the software design.
  • Develop unit test plans. Integrate with other components, solving highly complex system problems, to produce a final product.
  • Responsibilities typically extend to the technical management of the design, testing and integration of other engineers' work in related areas.
  • Leads reviews of documents, designs, code, test cases and user documentation.
  • Keep informed of new developments in the software engineering and computer engineering fields and disseminate appropriately through the organization.
  • Identify and participate in technical developmental training opportunities.
  • Works as a go-to person for a technology, software methodology, a functional area of industrial control or other area of expertise.
  • Be a technical lead of a large development team or lead technical aspects of a multi-team project.
  • Drive capability improvement in software development practices and development tools.

The Essentials - You Will Have:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent relevant experience
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.

The Preferred - You Might Also Have:

  • BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or similar technical discipline.
  • Typically requires a minimum of 12 years of experience in software product development.
  • Experience with Software Architecture Design patterns: Application and/or Services, API management, Microservices, Docker/Containers
  • Experience in large, scalable distributed systems and/or SaaS solutions
  • Direct involvement with Generative AI
  • Direct involvement with the Industrial Automation industry is preferred
  • Software development and architecture work on Cloud and Mobile platforms
  • Object oriented design using C++, C#, or Java
  • Proficiency in TypeScript, Node.js, Angular framework, GraphQL
