The Opportunity

The Product Owner facilitates the design, delivery, and enablement of business capabilities within our Duck Creek Policy Administration System and associated integrated systems across our platform. The product owner will be directly accountable for developing the vision and strategic roadmap for the owned product and for ensuring a consistent design and capabilities framework. They communicate and influence effectively with stakeholders, technical and service focused individuals across the organization to share the importance of operational excellence and drive high engagement through metric driven outcomes.

Responsibilities

In this position you will:

  • Own the product vision, roadmap, and backlog in partnership with assigned line of business, Product Ownership team on MRSNA Insurance Offerings.
  • Translate product roadmap features into well-defined product requirements including features, user stories, and acceptance test criteria.
  • Business capability owner, enabler and functional expert for the product and processes surrounding the product.
  • Define the design guard rails around the product and its capabilities.
  • Deeply entrenched in the development stages of a product including planning, development, test and deployment.
  • Ensure a consistent methodology in design and implementation of a capability though product evaluation and inspection. (i.e. rating design).
  • Anticipate business needs and routinely guide business and operational teams on designs to ensure insurance products and process can be efficiently implemented.
  • Collaborate with actuarial teams, underwriters, underwriting assistants and actuarial teams to understand underwriting needs and translate them into functional tool requirements.
  • Partner with cross functional teams including stakeholders, analytics and IT to determine best solution for capability enablement.
  • Demonstrate product builds to the business stakeholders and seek regular feedback
  • Keep up to speed on the current industry and product trends to influence capability enhancements

Qualifications

Successful candidates will possess the following experience/skills/qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • 4+ years of experience in product management and/or development or relevant experience.
  • 4+ experience enabling capabilities for the business with a guide toward anticipating needs with solutions, speed to market and ease of implementation.
  • Proven experience influencing leaders and lead decision making at all levels including Executive Leadership across various businesses and geographies.
  • Strong understanding of insurance pricing methodologies, risk modeling, and actuarial tools
  • Excellent collaboration skills to navigate through priorities of business and get those developed within teams
  • Collaborate and drive a product team made up of developers, business analysts, quality assurance resources and scrum masters on a daily basis.
  • Familiarity with policy administration systems, Duck Creek a plus.
  • Experience launching, building and enhancing products to drive operational efficiency and business value.
  • Established background in launching software or services in partnership with engineering teams and high degree of proficiency in prototyping, iterative development, understanding of Agile principles
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage, influence, and inspire partners and stakeholders to drive collaboration and alignment
  • High degree of organization, individual initiative, personal accountability and comfort in working in a high paced delivery focused environment.
  • Proactive, self-starter with excellent project management skills and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively
  • Balance of technical knowledge and business acumen.
  • Experience in lean process improvement initiatives is a plus.

The Company is open to considering candidates in numerous locations, including Philadelphia (PA), Princeton (NJ), and New York City (NYC). The salary range posted below reflects market variations across various locations. The offer will be adjusted per geography.

The base salary range anticipated for this position is $144,600-$230,700, plus opportunity for company bonus based upon a percentage of eligible pay. In addition, the company makes available a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, 401k match, retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).

The salary estimate is adjusted to reflect the varying market conditions across different locations, with the with the higher end being more aligned with the NYC job market. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to other employees already in this role. Most candidates will start in the bottom half of the range.
