The opportunity

The Summer Conference Staff position is a great opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in customer service, hospitality, and event operations while living and working on campus. During the summer months, Conference and Event Services hosts multiple groups, including academic programs, youth camps, religious organizations, corporate conferences, and day events. You will help create a welcoming, safe, and well-organized experience for all guests staying in our campus residence halls and apartments.

You will work with our Summer Programs Manager and professional staff, balancing office tasks, guest services, event support, and live-in responsibilities. This is a full-time summer assignment running from Monday, May 11, 2026 through approximately Friday, August 21, 2026. The position requires flexibility, including evening, overnight, and weekend shifts, and includes free on-campus housing. You will be located onsite at our Manchester, NH campus and will report to our Sr. Director of Conference Services.

What you'll do:

  • Provide professional customer service to conference guests, sponsors, and staff
  • Represent Conference and Event Services in a positive and responsible manner
  • Work in the Conference & Event Services office as a receptionist, answering phones, greeting guests, and supporting daily operations
  • Complete administrative tasks such as data entry, filing, creating signage, event materials, contracts, and basic budget tracking
  • Help coordinate conferences and events alongside professional event planners
  • Help manage social media accounts related to summer conferences
  • Organize, schedule, and support on- and off-campus group activities
  • Collect payments and transport guests to off-campus activities
  • Maintain a list of approved indoor and outdoor activities for conference groups
  • Prepare and service guest rooms to university standards, including linen service, trash removal, and room setup
  • Respond to guest needs and report maintenance or custodial issues
  • Safely handle master keys and assist with linen inventory and laundry
  • Be a live-in staff member for overnight conference groups, including guest check-in and check-out
  • Prepare welcome packets, keys, and linen packages for arriving groups
  • Walk through residence halls at night to ensure safety and policy compliance
  • Assist guests in understanding and following residence hall guidelines
  • Communicate with conference sponsors and professional staff
  • Follow cash handling and credit card procedures
  • Contact and assist Public Safety in emergency situations
  • Attend required trainings and weekly staff meetings
  • Complete additional responsibilities as assigned

What we're looking for:

  • Registered student at SNHU for Spring Semester 2025
  • Registered for Fall Semester 2026 or Summer 2026
  • Minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA
  • Valid driver's license and ability to become an authorized driver of SNHU's fleet vehicles
  • Availability to work 35-40+ hours per week for the duration of the assignment
  • Able to work nights, weekends, and overnight shifts and attend a required spring semester orientation

Compensation

The anticipated pay for this position is $14.00. Actual offer will be based on skills, qualifications, experience and internal equity, in addition to relevant business considerations.
